And in my opinion this is the secon pic.
They know that there's no time left for them, so they're "riding" away. They dont even know where.
The light of that lanter they brought, has found its own way, and quickly disappeared above the waters surface,
leaving the riders totally alone, In the oceans, already empty.

Great work, the colours especially are pretty fantastic. I like the way it fades from dark to light like that. The subtle light on the sea horses works really well too, the way they are almost silhouettes in places. Interesting idea with the candle and netting too. A very good painting.
