Description We are not a free society. We are a society of blatant oppression and subjugation. We are a society of rules set forth by those who do not follow rules. We are a society of violence, hatred and division all in the name of security. We are a society of indulgent decadence for the few while the rest break their backs and starve.

Anarchy means thinking for yourself. Anarchy brings one into close contact with the way their life effects those around them and visa versa, thereby discouraging destructive and anti-social behaviour.

Anarchy is love.

Anarchy is beauty.

yet too many Anarchists are the first ones to accuse others of bigotry, as an excuse to beat them up, with no repercussions.

in fact, most Anarchists i've seen act like FASCISTS!

they are violent and don't tolerate different views. and they often react very harshly towards any kind of criticism, mostly followed by calling people names.

"centrist? YOU SUPPORT THE FASCIST STATUS QUO, BECAUSE I SAY SO!"
"conservative? NAZI!"
"libertarian? ALT-RIGHT!"

"WOAH WOAH WOAH! YOU CAN'T SAY THAT ALL ANARCHISTS ARE VIOLENT! DON'T GENERALIZE PEOPLE!"

"Anarchy means thinking for yourself"
if that would be the case, i would be a better Anarchist than most Anarchists. i've mostly seen them in mobs, displaying mob-mentality.

seems like most Anarchists nowadays don't understand Anarchism...

...AND THAT IS WHY I CALL MYSELF A LIBERTARIAN.

(a bit more practical and achievable than Anarchy).

Even if anarchy is hard to implement the people can use it to control the government. Thats when anarchy come as a key opening so many doors. Anarchy is not destruction, anarchy is the way we can make us seen.

The Truth is only One, just like History! You can't change them or modify them, it is all written in stone and it sha'll remain that way, do not falsify history and cover the truth.

P.S: I love Zerzan and Zinn's work!

You absolutely can!

If you need more posters, check out CrimethInc: [link]

They are super cheap, as in you can literally get 25 posters for $2. They also give away a lot of free stuff.

ANARQUISTA TODA LA VIDA!

i once had a friend who was into anarchy, but he prettty much just thought that it meant he could kill and rob and etc without being brought down on his way to taking over the world. im pretty sure he was joking..., but yeah i support the idea, but the reason we came around to governments was because of our natural human desire for power, (which btw has been reduced in many children through training etc. but that struggle for power also caused murderous behavior before laws were brought about, some caveman with a brain however decided rather than use dictating methods, he would protect others in exchange for there rights, like an agreement. while this has brought some great things other results such as entrapment and such have resulted through the evolution of this agreement, which with every new generation being put into it from birth without i being willed... why do i have to be such a nerd all the time, yay anarchy! <----- thats all i should be saying

I don't believe in human nature. I believe humans are too smart to have a "nature" that they don't just make up themselves. With the most potent intellect of any creature we are also give the most free will, and though, yes, some will use that free will to harm others, we all know that it will be more beneficial for ourselves if we can get along, not because it's instinct really, but because we can analyze our interactions with the world around us.

Anarchy simply means: No Leaders. That's translated directly from Latin. Now, you can still have rules. Don't kill or steal, those are great rules. But the second you put one person above another to enforce those rules you have interfered with free will. Communities work best when they come to a common consensus of what those rules should be. This is true anarchy. In fact, humans lived for thousands of years in true anarchy before the few figured out they can use the many for selfish means and control them by fear. If only we had known back then what we know now, we might have never gone down the road of appointing leaders and making everyone afraid of one another.

But yes: Yay, Anarchy!

I do totally agree with you
also it has been shown that an anarchist society can perfectly work, if it's members have the right mentality for it.
you are also whery convincing, and this piece brings so many true things in such a potent text. Anyways I have to do a very SLIGHT correction: Anarchy translates from greek, not latin

you raise a good point, if i didnt care about being a douche id counter that (not cuz i want to argue, but i like to debate) but i think youve studied more and anything i say could and would be used against me (not very good at debating)

It's okay, I enjoy debating as well. It's especially fun and useful to play "Devil's Advocate" because it helps to develop your own views.

If you really want to know about real anarchy as a political and social movement I would suggest looking up CrimethInc. Their website is full of useful info and they publish a few books that you can buy for super cheap from the site. As far as books, I would suggest starting with "Days of War/Nights of Love". They also give away free shit on the site all the time so be sure to check out the free section. Besides them, I would suggest reading some Ward Churchill, John Zerzan, Howard Zinn, Noam Chomsky, Derrick Jensen, Murray Bookchin, etc.

I do fully support the perspective of anarchy, but i find it hard to live it. I want to be free.. but we are dependant of somany things these days.. rules, money, social behaviour guidelines.. i get looked at like i'm weird for wanting to be free and not going along with all the rules that are in place. those people do not realise that they are the ones that are weird for following without question..
What you have written is very moving and inspiring and thank you for it.. i hope people soon realise how powerfull the common man is and that we don't need all this opression.

I am totally for Anarchy but I don't think we could actually do it successfully. The human race would just collapse in on itself...not because the theory is flawed, but because people are. It's like communism. A brilliant theory, but no one can make it work.

I fucking hate the oppressive government we have now but...I just don't think a lot of people are capable of reason or rationality unless they are told to do so.

Humanity is fail. :/

SerenFae In reply to Lyn-Zo [2009-10-15 03:49:34 +0000 UTC]

We are told that humanity would fail at self-governance because those that govern us wish us to believe it. In fact, human beings existed just fine for thousands of years before we ever even had such things as government, police, authority, etc. and lived quite successfully under the universal "do unto others..." rule. And if you say, "That's all well and good, but that would mean reverting back to primitive tribalism and what's the point when we have come so far?" I have two points for you: the first is that a good example of non-tribal anarchic society can be seen in Ireland up through the 17th century which was, for all intents and purposes, what we would call an Anarchy in the fact that it had no government or ruling body to speak of, save for community councils of elders and the like, and were just as modern as the rest of Europe until the British invaded. The second would be to take a look at what all this technology has wrought; massive depletion of resources, a populous so lazy they can't be bother to walk a couple of blocks and such an atmosphere of disconnection from one's own community that the consequences of our actions are seldom considered.

The key element to making Anarchy work is the same element that makes people fearful of it, and that is the need to be much more intimately acquainted with with ones neighbors than most of the world is today. We are a fearful society and we hide behind our respective authorities to save us from each other and ourselves. Real anarchy means that we will each have to consider everyone else in our community as ourselves and understand that antisocial behavior will only make our own lives miserable. The people in charge of most modern societies know that the best way to keep themselves in power is to keep us afraid of each other when there is really no reason to be.

There is no such thing as "human nature" because human nature is always changing with social influence. It is the influence from our environment that determines how we behave (save for cases of schizophrenia and other mental illnesses that cannot be avoided). People will rob you when they live in a society built on scarcity and class separation, not because they have a natural predisposition for it. Same goes with all other anti-social behavior.

I totally agree with your description of Anarchy .

Most people think that anarchy means doing whatever you want and hurting people...people have said to me "anarchy means getting away with murder!"
Ah, but it doesn't, it's too bad that Anarchy has been given this stereotype...but I have come to notice that many things that are not the opinion shared by the majority are given false images...Just like how people think the Pagan religion is evil when it's not. *sigh*

Oh, but I love this! I love the font you used (typewriters ) and the way the words space and the picture at the bottom fits very well.

Thank you muchly.

I do hope you downloaded the fullsize, because the quality is so much better. The red doesn't smudge as much. And I drew the pic of the girl/flag in PS:CS2. I really love doing silhouettes.

There was a longer version, but I feared something too verbose would be ignored, mostly. But it had a part that described how, in Anarchy, we are forced to confront how our actions effect the world around us, therefore making the whole "Anarchy means getting away with murder!" argument seem very ignorant.

I also have a zine that will be available for download probably within the next month or so. I have a myspace page for it (yes, I know, myspace is the devil, but it helps in keeping everyone informed as to the progress of the zine) @ [link]

Oh, no, I didn't download it before, I only clicked full view. That looks really good!

That version sounds awesome, too. I know what you mean about how if things get too long, sometimes people skim over it, but I think that sounds interesting. I always get the argument where people will say "Anarchy means violence and will ruin everything".

That sounds really cool! I've always wanted to start my own zine but never knew when to start...perhaps I will someday. I'll go check it out
