Description
Here is my entry for the Megadeth contest of redesigning their mascot Vic Rattlehead.I wanted to give him a look of this decade, not too futuristic, but not too old. No blood this time
I definitly kept the same concept of eyes shut, mouth shut, ears shut. I also went a step forward to add the barbewires effects instead of the original chains.
Of course everything is brushed in Photoshop, no 3D work, everything is 2D, which was a great challenge for me.
Well, getting at least an honorable mention is all that I am aiming for! so lets hope they don't directly look at "Top Favs"

And I know that it won't make you feel any better, but I didn't find the 1st and 2nd winning entries that impressive. I don't know what they were looking for.

the problem is that no one really made it clear what Megadeth was looking for. They showed us samples of CD covers for them, so i thought we should create a sort of a new DESIGN for Vic. The winning entry was more of an artwork. While they were rather good, I fail to understand how they will use it in different backgrounds and on different packages. We'll just have to wait to see..
but if i knew what they were looking for, I would have changed this... am glad you like it, and its ok if it didnt win. I made something I never thought I could do and i learned a lot!

and from a design point of view i think it is great in that the image stands out from the back ground. It can easily be made into a logo that is on any color back ground, and printed from simple 2 color to full color.

yes, I tried to work on that part, because Its not an art piece, its more of a design. I actually went ahead and put it on a white background to see how it would look, it kept the same concept, so I was glad with it

that is great, you are good! but i was thinking, try a second version where you render the skull and bones texture, you corrode them more...just a thought, for start make the skull whiter, less shiny, give it a crisp, and some more red...and compare goodluck!

I actually will work more on this, when its a bit closer to the deadline, I will re-upload it. It needs a bit of finishing touches here and there

its not much of the guitares, its more of actually getting mentioned is what i want
oh and, I noticed that you use the BOW smiley, but it comes out the wrong one. I see you do it in other comments as well. The one you are looking for is worship, not bow. cause bow will make you look like you are bowing to an applauding audience

Good luck with the contest! I love how realistically metallic everything looks here, and the detail is amazing. It must have taken a LOT of time and patience to make it look this fabulous.

well seems though this is not a render im very impressed, you will have to post some sort of tutorial to show how you achieve that great metal finish, its basically cancelled me outa this competition. sigh..oh well..maybe next time lol. well done.

yes, the metal effect was a bit hard to gasp at first, but once you get the idea of how it works, its a walk in the park.
If i win or smthg, I'll post some sort of tutorials... i never made one before, so it will be a bit strange

I guess the only thing to make that one perfect is:
the reflections on the skull (forehead, eyes) should be more sharp and realistic
they look a little bit too blurred at the moment
I guess after improving this there will be no problem for you to get a honorable mention... (even more!!!!!)
