Awesome design. Are you planning to do the other versions of the Macharius at all?

This is beautiful! May I ask what program you used for modeling and texturing? I really need to get into this level of detail with my 3D work

Luxology MODO, as always.
It lacks a lot of features MAX or Maya have, but I'm ok with that, since I don't do complex animation & other hi-end stuff.

Macharius Vulkan is by far the most awesome super-heavy tank of all. Gimme just one, and I'll die happy.

Too bad not that real yet, have to work on rendering.

well I am not a perfectionist, sometimes even a sketch can be better than the finished oil master paint...

FullSynch [2012-05-10 21:33:15 +0000 UTC]

Looks amazing but I feel a lot of detail gets lost in the monotonous camo ( I suppose that's the point of camo though ).

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SerpentTheGreen In reply to FullSynch [2012-05-10 23:02:01 +0000 UTC]

Not that much of a detail is totally lost, but yes, that's a point of camo

Great work on the model - the procdural textures work well.

Thanks.
Procedurals are hell to tweak, but it beats unwrapping & manual painting

SerpentTheGreen In reply to Bantirat [2012-05-10 15:54:20 +0000 UTC]

Thanks, but I really wonder why I've never seen this kind of mod before -- twin vulcan bolters require a lot of ammo, so ammo drums would be natural.

If only I could this kind of stuff....

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SerpentTheGreen In reply to itifonhom [2012-05-10 16:00:06 +0000 UTC]

It's really a matter of perseverance. All geometry is pretty plain & simple. Lots of stuff was modelled before, put in a mesh library & re-used (drag, drop, align, assign materials). Materials -- trial & error, but again ... find one you like -- save it

very nice work, i especially love how you've made a variation to the Forge World design, but still making it work. top notch!

SerpentTheGreen In reply to SatanOfRock666 [2012-05-10 12:33:48 +0000 UTC]

Thanks.
All my models are modified here & there.
Main idea was that vulcan mega-bolters need large ammo drums and not puny box.

UnleasheDDesigns [2012-05-10 10:06:12 +0000 UTC]

its awesome man really! great details. only thing i dont like is the color, it looks too yellow and the red stuff down at the bottom looks strange. its supposed to be mud right?

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

SerpentTheGreen In reply to UnleasheDDesigns [2012-05-10 10:47:20 +0000 UTC]

Looked on some other monitors -- A bit more yellow, then on mine, bit definitely browinis & not red.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

UnleasheDDesigns In reply to SerpentTheGreen [2012-05-10 11:52:32 +0000 UTC]

It's a common thing, i used to photoshop on a friend pc and then comming back home seeing that black was greenish grey and other colors totally off.
The yellow isnt really that strong but the brown is defintly dark red on my monitor and it has a pure black center.

But it can be my contrast being off.

i dont know how you see my models tough

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

SerpentTheGreen In reply to UnleasheDDesigns [2012-05-10 12:48:44 +0000 UTC]

On laptop -- pretty OK.
At desktop -- somewhat low on brightness / contrast.

But laptop has brigtness/contrast/etc ajusted for text, not picures & color.

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

SerpentTheGreen In reply to UnleasheDDesigns [2012-05-10 10:34:49 +0000 UTC]

On my monitor I looked quite allrigt ... darker and more dull-brownish.
I'm at my work now -- on laptop it looks overall brighter & more into red & yellow, yes.
Guess different calibrations & color profiles.

Well, think of it as a blood of heretics
