Description Yosh! Finally I can finish the whole dragon! That leaves the background in next step (step 4). But now I'd like to get some advise from you all about what the background should be. hope you can give your advise on this in your comments. I'll be waiting and thanks to all that give me supports and those nice comments. Really appreciate that.

Saran aja

serpentwitch In reply to fractalspirit [2007-04-23 04:52:23 +0000 UTC]

Banyak yang suruh kasi sisik buat tekstur detail. Tapi yah... menurut gw naga bukan reptile bersisik sih. Ada teman yg bikin naga persis ky dinosaurus. Gw lebih sependapat ke situ.

As promised! Commenting!!
First off, I really like the colours you picked. Of course, I am a major fan of the more muted colour palette, so that probably accounts for some of it. But still, I like seeing dragons that aren't very flashy/bright. That sort of colouration on a predator just makes more sense to me. That said, he (is it a he?) could easily go a bit brighter and still look fine, in my opinion.

I also really love the sharp highlights and shadows you've got going on with his head and his right horn, specifically. The contrast really makes him stand out from the white background, though I think it'll help him stand out against most any background you do. Now, what I'm curious about is- Is this high-contrast style of shading going to work its way down the dragon? It seems to be, in some place, such as the front feet. But then in other parts, the shading and definition get very hazy.

Personally, I don't think scales are at all necessary. Though they could look pretty cool. I draw a lot of my own dragons without scales, but then, I also don't think of dragons as reptiles. Ectotherms, maybe. Some of them. But never as big lizards. I don't think that the sort of lifestyle attributed to them by most people meshes especially well with a reptilian one - the flying and fire-breathing in particular.... ...oh right... I was supposed to be commenting... not going on a bioloigcal rant. Heh. ^.-.^;

Hmm... I'm not too sure where to go from here. I don't want to be all "Shade everything like the head! Rawr!" If that's what you're already planning on doing. Though I wouldn't say it like that anyhow. I could do biology commenting, if y'wanted, too...
So yeah, where're you planning to go with it from here? I'd suggest a background, but honestly, I suck at backgrounds- the brainstorming portion of them the most. 9.-.9

Oh, I like the eyes. I don't think I've ever seen anyone draw a dragon's eyes like this before. They look.... amphibious, to me. Pretty spiffy, there.

Wohoo...This is what I expected from u! OK, the shading's not perfect....yet. For when I did the background, everything has to be adjusted to fit the background color. I don't think I would add the scales and I agree with u for dragons are not reptilians. But I will improved the shadings along with the contsrast to fit the background. And thanks for those nic compliments, I really apreciate that^^.

Dragons are always fun, though I kind of wish the color scheme was slightly brighter, but thats just me.

Loving this!

The scar I bet would look kick ass if the dragon was also blind in that eye. It would make him look that much more menacing.

Try adding some random scale work. It would make him look more reptilian. It's pretty easy. ^^ Set your brush to around 30% flow and use overlay or soft light. Try it and see if you like it.

serpentwitch In reply to Sotalean [2006-11-06 03:56:53 +0000 UTC]

Really? Don't know that tech yet^^. I'm planning to do the scales and other details manually with ink. But if it's not hard let me try digitally first...
