Truly a beautiful piece. I think this would have been a winner for sure! You have a great elaborate pattern on her dress and tons of detail which the winners seems to have as well. The only reason I can possibly think of as to why you didn't win is that you have a little too much contrast with your dark lines. But even then I think the lines make the piece stand out. Clearly this is one of my favorites.

Sorry I was at work writing and I think I was a bit hasty with my review. I was referring to your contrast between lines and color. Your shading is beautiful and soft and your lines are bold and dark. Thats all I meant. I think its a beautiful style. In fact a lot of my art is drawn with bold dark lines and soft colors. I was just offering my opinion in reference to what the winners of the Sakura Con Mascot contest did.
By far this was my favorite entry.
