"What's your deal, Kagome? Why have you been hanging around that prick, anyway? He's bad news!" Inuyasha growled, a bit peeved at the miko for the current company she had been keeping.

"It's none of your business who I keep company with, Inuyasha! Besides, why do you care? You're a real jerk, ya know! Besides, Sesshomaru is good to me. He saved my life," Kagome remembered, thinking of the time he had rescued her, Sango and Miroku when Mukotsu had tried to kill them with his poison. Even though he had stated he had destroyed the little weirdo because he failed to answer his question, Kagome knew it was because he actually cared.

"Don't be an idiot! He didn't save you - he was only after Naraku! Besides, aren't you forgetting how many times he's tried to kill you? You're nothing special to him - so don't go acting like you're queen of the world!"

"You don't know anything about him, Inuyasha! He's just angry because of everything that's happened! If that had happened to you, then you would be doing the same thing he is!" Kagome defended, feeling angry at the hanyou for being so brash and arrogant.

Inuyasha was quiet for a moment as he was deep in though. His eyes turned to Kagome, softening as they met contact with her own eyes.

"Stay away from him, Kagome. He's a selfish bastard. He won't cause you nothin' but harm!" Inuyasha grabbed her arm, trying to make her realize that he was a monster.

He tried to fend off the flashback that was threatening to open, but failed and let his memories take over.

"Sesshomaru, won't you take Inuyasha around the castle? He is such a young boy - I would hate for him to go by himself." Izayoi smiled, greeting the young lord as he walked through castle, long silver hair following his person as he did.

"You misunderstand my intentions. I am not here for that half-breed," Sesshomaru spat, his eyes hardening in disgust as he looked to the hime with cold eyes.

"Sesshomaru... would you be so heartless to your own family? I'm sure you're father-"

"You will not speak of my father, ningen." He turned instantly, his hands on her throat as he strangled her. She gasped loudly, her hands clawing at his hand, which was wrapped around her throat.

"Please... I didn't mean..." She gasped, her eyes clenched shut as she felt her hands go limp.

"Sessh-maru! Let mommy go!" Little Inuyasha scrambled to his mothers aid, stepping on the boot of his elder brother as he tugged with all of his might at his brother's kimono sleeve.

Sesshomaru peered down his nose to the half-demon tugging on his clothing, narrowing in disgust as he dropped his mother. She fell to the ground laying on her side, her hands flying to her throat as she regained her breath. With his other hand, he struck at little Inuyasha, sending him flying to the ground, next to a pile of toys that lay on the grass.

"My great and terrible father... killed by the love of a mortal woman... and you..." he looked to Inuyasha, his eyes hardening as his lip curled in disgust, "Their little spawn..." He spat, walking away from the two with his nose in the air as his boa and hair flapped violently in the wind. "I will have nothing to do with you. I will not fall prey to such weakness."

Izayoi saw her child tossed to the ground, and despite her own injuries, she scrambled to her child's aid, holding him tightly in her arms as he cried softly.

"Mama... why does brother hate me so?" He cried, confused as to why his own family hated him so much. He had never done anything to his brother...

He just wanted to play with him.

Izayoi sighed, her thick lashes laying on her cheeks as she looked down to her whimpering son. He was just a boy... he could not possibly understand the emotions in play. Her eyes darted to the shiny red ball that was only a few feet away from them, and she couldn't help but cry softly with her son.

All her little boy wanted... was a big brother, to share his shiny red ball with.

He just wanted to play.

"Inuyasha? Are you alright?" Kagome asked, noticing her friend was out of it slightly. Inuyasha grunted, standing up face her, before turning his head away.

"I just don't trust him, Kagome. He'll turn his back on you, just like he did me and my mother." His eyes softened once more as he said this, and his hands were clenched tightly into fists as he snarled. Kagome raised a hand to her cheeks, curious as to what he was talking about. Did Sesshomaru do something terrible to his mother and Inuyasha? She remembered what had happened with the un-mother, but that couldn't be why he was so upset, could it?

"Inuyasha... everyone has done something bad in their life. I'm sure that if you two sat down, you could work everything out. Besides," she smiled, putting her hand to her hair and pushing it from behind her ear, "He's... not such a bad guy... Once you get to know him. He's kind sweet." She rushed the last part, not exactly meaning to say her feelings of the demon.

Inuyasha turned his head slowly, eyes beady as the glared down at her while he smiled maniacally, his fangs bared.

"What did you just say...?" He growled, stepping closer to the woman as his temper started to get to him. "Don't tell me you're in love with the bastard!"

"No I'm not, stupid! I just don't think you should jump to conclusions! People can change!" She defended, holding her hands up to her chest as she got in the half-demons face, spitting at him.

"That's it - isn't it?! You're in love with him! Traitor!"

"Inuyasha, sit boy!" Kagome yelled, clenching her fists as she turned her back on the half-demon who was now buried in the dirt. She stuck her nose in the air, walking away from him as a frowned marred her face.

Once she got a few minutes away from him, she sighed in defeat, stopping in her tracks. Looking behind her to where she had left Inuyasha, she frowned. Sesshomaru had been so kind to her lately... he had even thanked her for telling him of the whereabouts of Naraku.

Her heart fluttered at thoughts of the the demon.

...did she love Sesshomaru?

OKAY, so I made Sesshomaru the bad guy for a little bit. It was necessary, though!
This is for MissKatt's montly challenge! I couldn't think of a good picture to go with the current prompt, and so I asked if I could do a Inuyasha x Izayoi picture, and she gave me approval!

...but I did make a story with SessKag, so yay!
