Description cliche name, I know. First off, I did not take this picture. This kid took it himself. We were in Kayhilitsha (no idea how to spell that, but thats what it sounds like), a rural township next to Capetown in South Africa. We spent the day there discussing rural issues and conservation with the locals at a sort of community center. All south african children love cameras though, so I let this kid use mine for a little while and when he came back he had filled the memory card, which translates to about 200 pictures. I don't think I could have ever gotten this expression out of him myself, so I'm incredibly grateful to him for his aritstic abilities. This might be my favorite picture from the trip, which is odd becuase not only did I not take it, but its not a picture of a lion or a leopard or a cheetah, which is what I went there to see in the first place.

Yeah, I absolutely love this picture, its my favorite portrait shot. These kids just had such incredible attitude and personality that its hard not to love them, and they were obsessed with cameras

Of course; we take this stuff for granted and they can take nothing for granted.
