Description
I am not completely satisfied with the title, so it may change (edit April 17: I have changed the title from Cloud Bird to Dream Watcher) The idea here is this creature exists in the realm of dream. Not necessarily a spirit guide (it could be a spirit guide) but possibly a warden, a sentry, a watcher, one who monitors.Mixed media (acrylics, pastel, charcoal, graphite) on canvas

First work of the year (actually started this in 2012). I have been in a bit of a creative slump since the holidays. Creative slump aside, I have been working on other projects but it has been a struggle: Howl for UWG; illustrations for a children's alphabet book (we have been picked up by a small publisher!).

Well, considering the time and work I was putting in at the studio before the holidays, it sure feels like a slump. Not being able to think, concentrate, focus, and get stuff done. I pulled this painting back out and had it on the easel for me to dabble with while I have been trying to focus on illustrations and the wolf statues (Howl for UWG). I feel I am coming out of this spell and in a nick of time too. Declines are fast approaching.
I am very pleased you like this. I was thinking of movement, or wind, with the area of the wing. I am glad you get that feeling from it.

May your slump end soon. I've been having the same sort of problem. I have little bright spots here and there, but otherwise it's been tough. I've been working through it to the best of my abilities though.

The monitoring duty makes sense given the wing color. At least to me. It gives the bird a solemnity, a feeling of responsibility as, for example, turquoise or purple would probably not. Hmmmm...wonder if you should get the job description into the title somehow...

Can you just do a substitution for the "Cloud" word, or is that one of your series indicator words? I was thinking "Guardian Owl," like a tweak on "Guardian Angel."

That is what I had in mind but I am still trying to find an alternative word for guardian. When I think of the word guardian, it seems to limit the bird to a certain category of course, it may just be me.
