I would never have thought that pastel came into play in this instance. Looks like... some kind of downpour. The last rains before winter.

Love the subtle colors, plus the smeared quality on the tree and grass.

Encaustics are such a challenge. I am pleased how this turned out even though I had intended a different look to the piece.

That's not out of the question. The only thing I worry about is the sharp edges.

I'm told aluminium works well, and you can round the edges off and no rust.
Never tried it myself though - I'm more of a drawist with watercolour!
