Description
The 4th Christmas present is one for Tamara, or ~braindentist , as most of you know her. It's of her character, Rage, and Taishi, and although the composition is fairly simple, I am perhaps most pleased with the coloring of this one. I'm not sure, but the hair turned out absolutely fantastic.Rage (c) ~braindentist

My absolute favorite one. One, it has my favorite pose for a man and woman (with the guy holding the girl, and them bending toward and away from each other.... yeah.) and the playfulness is so cute. Not to mention the wings, and the piercings. I love wing piercings. >_< I could name twnty more things, but I'm just gonna leave it with I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS.

:'D SETTHHYY. I'm writing this again because I was an idiot. BUT. I will try to remember the epic novel that I wrote here before. So!
How did you manage to colour Rage's hair absolutely brilliantly? I may actually have to ask you how you did it. No. Really. I will have to FORCE YOU to tell me. This is an embarrassing truth - humiliating even. But the gradient of his hair is perfect, and you've still managed to get the impression of volume and natural flow. Also, I am fairly certain that you purposely made Taishi's hair as pretty and sweet as pink cotton candy in order to make me hungry. Well. It worked. You cruel temptress. As revenge, I will eat all of Taishi's hair. Sorry, Taishi.
Also! The poses are so telling of their personalities, it's great. Rage appears to be trying to intimidate Taishi into admitting his sex appeal (er...his questionable sex appeal, considering his...grossness). Taishi is also bravely dealing with Rage's horrible breath.
The little detail of the halo held up by two antennae is perfect - because it's almost like aliens, and aliens, just like boobs, are bound to attract Rage. Unfortunately for Taishi, she has both, so...Hopefully she can rip his hair out before he infects her with plague.

As for his hair (Which the hair was the most fantastic part about this piece)? I totally started by jacking the base color off of your profile pic for Rage. Colored it in. Then there are 6 layers above it.
First, the dark lines that are so boldly cell-shaded and follow the movement of the hair, and casting the hard shadows.
Second, the grey tips, which are all done in one color and the Blending Mode of the layer is set to "Difference"
Third, the dark shadows that are blurred out, following mostly just the ends of his hair in a slow, arching pattern is just a dark color of red with the layer Blending Mode set to "Multiply" and the opacity on 75%
Fourth, the bright red, blurred the same as the third layer, were put on places where the light would shine particularly harsh (All over the top of his head and slightly along the curve of his hair at the back of his neck). That's colored FF0000 and the blending mode is overlay. It brings out that BOOM, red.
Fifth, the see-through halo underneath the white lights, is done in white and at 42% opacity, with the Blending Mode set to Screen.
And last, and certainly the easiest to explain, are the final white highlights, which are on a standard layer and done with quick, sweeping motions of the pen. Tadah.
