Description Second project for my drawing class. For this one we had to pick an organic object and recreate it in colored pencil. It could be like a still life or more abstract.

This picture really doesn't do it justice though :/

I went the more abstract route. I cut a pomegranate in half and took a close up photo. The picture was taken outside during dusk which is why there are a lot of blue reflections.

Done with prismacolor colored pencils and turpenoid. On Illustration board, 16 x 22"

It's really beautiful. I really like the blue reflections from the lighting. It definitely gives it much more depth than if it was just white light.

We had to do this for Painting, alot of ppl chose pomegranates. I chose an artichoke, but I did it in unrealistic colors and its so close up that it looks like a painting of a flower. LOL

Prismacolor pencils and... turpenoid??? I never heard of this technique. What does it do?

For Biological Rendering, we used alcohol markers (copic markers) or watercolor, and then prismacolor pencils over it. Is that the same thing?

turpenoid just blends the colored pencils a lot. It kind of turns the colored pencils into watercolor and it smooths them down substantially on the paper.
