Description

This started of with inspiration from Rusty Lake and Limbo.Β

I tried to make a cold, dead forest covered in white fog and the original versions was just that, complete with a giant spider!

I started trying out some colors and when I tried green, also adding the leaves to the trees something clicked. Later on I added the golden sun which kinda cemented the look I wanted to strive for. Eventually I even removed the green, making it a forest of total gold.

What started off as a cold, colorless and hostile forest, seemingly ended up as a healthy welcoming forest, flourishing in the warm orange light of the sun.

What's that sign on the trees? What does it do? And where does it lead?

I'm not totally sure.

It actually took me quite a long time before I noticed them. I'd say I had spent a good few weeks wandering the forest before I noticed their faint light.

They all seem rather random, the only common factor I've found among them are that they all seem to be one pattern repeated 6 times.

Who put them there, I cant tell. What I do know is that the glow from them seem to increase whenever The Elk is near, which seems to propose some correlation to the magical creatures of this forest.

At one point I noticed one of the runes shining brightly, blood red. I made the decision to leave the area before I could find out what creature would produce such glow, and these days I make sure to keep a steady eye on whatever runes are around me. They help me, even if I'm not totally sure how.

Whether they are merely means of detection or actual seals to keep something away from the forest I cant really tell.

Perhaps they are even guards, meant to keep something Inside.

Thank you so much, and to answer your question, I'm self tough.

The reason I can make images I'm sorta proud of at all is because I spend time on them to get basically every small pixel right.

I don't actually Draw at all. I use keyboard and mouse and for the times when I actually need well drawn pencil strokes, I can spend 15 minutes setting them up perfectly as Paths (vectors) and then have GIMP draw it for me with the brush I give it.

As such, most of my work is based around black Silhouettes and Light, which is why the good contrasts almost comes for free.
