Some time ago there was a beautiful sunshine at my desk, which led me to take severeal photos with my small digital camera. Just playing around a bit with angle, hair; nothing special.So this is me.
This gives me the opportunity to practise once again: just like in the "dandeleon" speedpainting I tried to catch the colours and proportions right without technical help (no colourpicker etc), and like in the black-and-white "family portraits series" I did in December it was of course a portrait-painting practice.
I know that it is always better to grab a mirror and not a photograph, but I feel safer with photos in the moment when it comes to people. Things just musn't move. (I have to do more real-life studies, but rather with objects than with living things...

I'm impressed. It looks so realistic! You have a knack to chose the appropriate colors for lights and shadows, which allows you to create realistic paintings withouth spending 20 hours in polishing and detailing. This is a rare hability. Oh, and i also like the stripes on the shirt. it adds mouvement. I obviously can't tell if it looks like you, but i can tell it could because the angles and positions of the nose, eyes, and stuff are perfect, which gives the impression of a true face.

Well, I had a photo as a reference, so I had enough time to find the right colours by trial and error. I doubt I could have done it in exactly the same way if I had used a mirror and not a photo.

Bin grad über ein Journal hierhergestolpert - beeindruckend, das Licht wirkt unglaublich echt, die Farben sehr greifbar. Wirklich sehr gute Arbeit!

Dabei hab ich mich nur an die Ref gehalten und versucht, die dortigen Farben so gut es geht zu treffen... Wenn ich ein Bild nur aus dem Kopf male fällt es mir wahnsinnig schwer, die richtigen Töne zu treffen. Ich brauche da stets ein Vorbild...

Och, ich hab für die Streifen einen Custom Brush verwendet, das ging dann ganz schnell.
Aber die Falten waren schon einige Mühe wert, das ist bei so hellem Stoff immer besonders schwierig.

Ähm ja... Ich weiß nicht. Ich hab mir einfach die Fotovorlage ganz genau angeguckt und dann versucht, den jeweiligen Farbton zu treffen. Das kann dann auch bedeuten, da etwas länger im Farbfeld zu suchen... Also ich hab nie sofort den richtigen Ton, das muss immer noch einmal korrigiert werden.

Ich fürchte, bei mir sieht es aber nur deswegen respektabel aus, da ich eine Fotovorlage hatte. Lediglich mit einem Spiegel wird es schwieriger... bedeutend schwieriger. Aber das ist die nächste Hürde. O_O

Großartig! Die Farben sind einfach klasse und es ist auch sonst alles sehr stimmig (sogar die Komposition, auch wenns nur ein Schnapschuss ist ^^)

Die Perspektive war bestimmt schwierig, aber ist dir sehr gut gelungen.
Ich kann auch immer wesentlich besser von Photos abmalen, allein weil ich schon viel zu langsam für nen echtes Model wäre, das sich ja auch mal bewegen will

Also ohne Foto hätte ich den Blickwinkel auch überhapt nicht hinbekommen. Aber jetzt war das vielleicht auch eine Übung, damit sich so etwas einprägt und dann in einer skizze vielleict doch gelingt.

Na ja, das Licht war ja auf dem Foto vorgegeben. Da musste ich es ja nur nachempfinden... Ohne Ref kann ich das auch nicht so wirklich. ._.
Aber eben dafür diese Übung, ich kann es nur empfehlen!
Ich habe in PS meistens den runden, harten Pinsel aus diesem Pinselset verwendet: [link] und dann mit unterschiedlicher Deckkraft und Fluss/Flow gemalt.
