I had a similar encounter at an anime convention half a dozen years ago. While in costume as Guts from Berserk I ran into an attractive older woman (late 20's, early30's) in a Misato costume. She flashed me a smile that looked like she might have been interested in me, but I stood there with my big wooden sword feeling a little intimidated and not sure if she actually was interested in me. She walked out once she got to her floor and I stayed in the elevator, wondering if I should have said something.
Like the song goes "I wish that I knew what I know now."
