Description More playing with FIMO. I made this a couple of weeks ago, but at the time, I was unable to take any photos because the camera was on holiday. The camera has been back from it's holiday for a little while, but I kept forgetting about this figure until now.

I made this out of Classic FIMO polymer clay, which I've decided is probably just a tad too hard to mold. I'm thinking maybe a mixture of Soft and Classic would make the best clay to work with. I almost gave up on making this a few times, but I'm glad I didn't in the end. She certainly isn't perfect, but I like her.
Painting was fun and I'm pleased with the detail I managed to get with her eyes in particular. I was trying to get the colours to match the new series colours, but when they dried they ended up looking more like the original series colours. It's all good. ^_^

Oh, and why did I choose to make Musashi? For some reason I could see her in my mind's eye when thinking about what chibi character to make. Her hair was a pain! It's still not right, but I'm learning.

The question now is what should make with the rest of my FIMO?

Wow, this is really great. The amount of detail, in the eyes and clothes especially is wonderful. May I ask what kind of gloss you used? I want to work more with polymer clay, but I'm not sure what kind of gloss to use to make it look shiny.

Thank you so much.
The gloss that I used is specifically a Fimo branded one and the bottle just describes it as being "Gloss Varnish". Also the label is orange in colour. I wasn't sure which gloss was the best to go for, but I came across this and it works really well. I hope that helps.

She looks terrific! I wish I could make stuff out of clay, but I'm useless at it. My sister and I recently bought that CD drama. We'd been wanting it for over 10 years!

Thank you! Soft FIMO is an easier one to work with. This was Classic, but if you ever feel like giving this type of clay a go, I'd definitely recommend Soft. I used to play around with clay making a bit when I was much younger, so I have some experience with it.
That's cool that you got the CD drama! I've had much fun over the years listening and re-listening to it. Also, the case, hardback book and booklets are all very pretty to look at.

You're welcome. I've never heard of that clay. I must look and see if I can find it anywhere.
My sister and I always wanted the CD drama. We downloaded some of the tracks 10 years ago, but we always wanted the real thing. We kept finding scans of some of the pictures, and we always wanted the book they came out of, but we couldn't find it anywhere. I'd say 10 years was worth the wait! I love everything that came with that CD.

I managed to get my clay off of eBay. It's easy to find online. I don't really have an arts and crafts store nearby, so I haven't been able to find any clay locally.

Excellent! That's awesome that you finally got your very own CD because it is a really nice one.

I'll probably have to get it off there too. Sounds like my town.-_- We have a stationery/ arts and crafts shop, but they hardly ever have what you want, unless you're into scrapbooking or looking to buy text books for school. -_- They sometimes stock watercolour paper and that makes me happy(when they have it).

That CD is awesome! The pride of any CD collection!

i have not used classic fimo before, didn't realize it was so hard.
you can not make jessie without james!

Yeah, Classic is the one I bought back when I decided to make my mum's birthday present. I wanted to see the difference after having tried out your soft FIMO. It's good, but it does take longer to get it going. They need to make a version inbetween Classic and Soft.

I suppose you're right. Jessie must always be accompanied by James, he he he.

OMG ME WANT!! (lol I wish XD)
I love how you made this, especially her hair and face. And it's sooo SHINY!!!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Shaami In reply to Limynna [2011-09-28 19:07:35 +0000 UTC]

I should clone myself and mass produce these, then you'd be able to have one. But she's one of a kind, otherwise I would give her to you.

Thank you! A lot of hard work went into that hair especially, he he he. She is extremely shiny because of the coat of gloss I gave her to protect the paint work.

Limynna In reply to Shaami [2011-09-28 19:26:00 +0000 UTC]

That would be cool if that was possible!
But yeah, that's true. So she should stay with you, I'm sure I would feel the same way about something I made.

You're most welcome! And yeah, I know what you mean.

I get sentimental about things I've made, even though I probably shouldn't. It would be fine if I was making a batch of them, but I have no idea if there would be much demand for such a thing.

Limynna In reply to Shaami [2011-09-29 18:56:57 +0000 UTC]

I understand that, it's the same with me. I remember every time I made a plush in school that was meant to be a birthday/christmas gift I always wanted it myself because it became very special to me, but most often I managed to give it away to who it was meant for.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Shaami In reply to Limynna [2011-09-29 21:42:47 +0000 UTC]

Ah, I don't mind so much if it's made especially for a gift. I mean, yeah, sometimes I feel attached, but most of the time I'm too excited to see how that person will react to my gift. Of course, most of my made gifts have been for my mum, so I guess I still get to see them, he he he.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Limynna In reply to Shaami [2011-09-29 21:56:24 +0000 UTC]

That's exactly why I end up giving those meant as gifts away afterall, just always think it'd be nice to have one too, but it is possible to produce double (just not easy for me XD).

Thank you! She's very shiny because of the coat of gloss I gave her. I didn't realize how shiny she'd be, I just wanted to seal the paint to protect it. ^^

You may get to see one day.
