Description

Milvais, Quilintha and Ivoÿn: Acolytes of the tutelar Godess of the Drow City State of Negeémiliel, the godess of War Negeé:

Citizens and soldiers, who like their co-citizens since childhood trained to become Acolytes, and in that way, citizens of Negeémiliel.

However, as Acolytes, they learned not only of war and the cult of the Godess, but learned as well power, and to abuse of it:

Autorithy who doesn't abuse, lost respect...

And that, become their live-motto, as well to feel superior -as citizens and accolytes- and subestimate their enemies... and for these three, that had horrible results...
______________________________________________
Each drow accolyte, once had finished her training in an Academy of the Godess, need to buy a ceremonial armor, as well a battle armor:

However, is normal that they wear everyday the Ceremonial armor that identificate them with the rulying oligarchy of the city, and so, they need to own several spare uniforms:

And there, all the acolytes in the image are "Lankae" style of "armor" (one of the various configurations). Originally, the Lankae where the Guards from the Temple, as well the acolytes who fighted with a spear as main weapon.

The infamous drow trio, that began as a single drawing, and began to slowly expand to their own story.

Nice work again! Do these drow live in your own world setting or in a D&D setting? Also, they underworlders or surface dwellers?

My own setting. :3

They live in the underworld of Kazrrad, in a city state named Negeémiliel.

Very cool, do you just make up fantasy names for people and cities that sound cool yourself or base em off anything? Sorry for asking, I just enjoy this kind of thing and envy people who can settle on whats what in their world settings lol

Shabazik In reply to NamelessManic [2010-11-09 04:04:30 +0000 UTC]

Why don't the females flee from so much of the existent human patriarchal civilizations, from today or the past?

Because, normally such an option doesn't exist, and it doesn't is real, and sometimes to be consient of an abusive situation or so, can take centuries, and significal changes in a culture:

For example, take in account all the time needed to develop the gender equality in the western world.

:3

-Plus, they get to see their females in skimpy clothes and uniforms! XD-

I like the story of these three girls. It was so interesting to see what happened to them when they became slaves.

The behavior of Ivoÿn was quite predictable. She is of the type that is usually referred as "rich bitch".

It was interesting to find that Milvais, who has been a skilled and cruel warrior, was completely crushed morally after she was defeated the first time in her life. Will she recover afterwards, or remain forever a scared and submissive "general purpose slave"?

Only Quilintha managed to keep her attitude. Her skills could be useful to her masters, but she doesn't want to obey. Has she any chance to succeed in her attempt to escape?

I'm looking forward for the sequel to the story

Oh wow! really great seeing the three in nearly the same uniform and similar hair style! I'm amazed that Quilintha had enough hair to tie and pin it back like this! Maybe she had longer hair at the time this 'graduation photo was taken!' LoL! At the moment, she doesn't look like Quilintha to me in this pic? Maybe a change of hair style makes all the difference?

Ivoyn looks much pleased as she usually does when things are going her way. She looks remarkably generous--or perhaps she is looking for any hint of weakness in Quilintha for being a first generation acolyte? Does she get to wear hip hugger leather 'lingerie' rather than the 'suspender panties' of the other girls because she is an officer? What a world where these are among the most heartless soldiers to be found?! Milvais looks much the same as she's changed the least, she looks expecially cruel in this pic considering there is little to be cruel about or anyone near to be cruel to! Perhaps she and Ivoyn are sharing a private, silent joke at Quilintha's expense? Perhaps Milvais wants Ivoyn's job and Ivoyn knows it?

What happen there is that I mess with the long of the hair. XD

But since I never made any mistakU, I have determinated is perfectly normal, and she had or longer hair, or used extensions to meet the regulations!

:3

And yeah, these two (Milvais and Ivoÿn) can have planned some kind of joke, but: who really knows?

XD

And for the officer thingy... not allways they do wear black, but a member from a "pure blood citizen" family -who where citizens since the fundation of the city- had the privilege to use black stocks, but that depend of that, rather than range (if you thing, the rank of Ivoÿn is pretty low, only a equivalent to Corporal :3)
What really makes the difference is her more wealthy and old family.

"but a member from a "pure blood citizen" family -who where citizens since the fundation of the city- had the privilege to use black stocks"

This was what I was thinking about earlier, regarding special privileges. Although I confused Milvais with Ivoyn over time, I think, and forgot that the "great privilege" was wearing the black leggings! I suppose I came to think of Ivoyn's family as relatively newly wealthy, and the Zisrith's as the "noble" family falling on hard times.

I used to think that I had a good memory, but I find that I keep misremembering stuff!

With this in mind, the Zisriths are really just an unremarkable, typical, traditional career-military family?

Well, only because I remembered something incorrectly, and just happened to stumble across this as I've been doing research on Quilintha for Animal-Delos. Also, the drow trio have been out of uniform for a long time, and Ivoyn wore her "peekaboo" chain mail armor for her regular uniform, and this was her "dress" uniform.

Interestingly, Achie also wore black leggings, even though she isn't native to Negeemiliel, but from a colony. Her family is from one of the founders of the Negeemiliel society that went off to establish her colony?

Shabazik In reply to larqven [2013-01-09 16:49:49 +0000 UTC]

yep, that's other example of a mistake of me, in the answer about the black leggings. Achie's family it's from a "rural" acolytal house (in the underworld, there isn't really a "rural" area, but I mean small, not urban, area, with only some smaller settlements).

As well, her being blue-ish, all goes in direction that her family ISN'T a really old family.

So my answer it's bad in principle. Black stockings doesn't mean then, being from an old family. Maybe I can say sometime it was like that, but it's not that way anylonger

larqven In reply to Shabazik [2013-01-10 07:03:46 +0000 UTC]

Not every plan works out, it seems. One might speculate that privilege of the first families might have been corrupted over time towards a purchased dignity for the most wealthy?

Of course that fails to explain te Dahl'Arak's lack of black stockings? The family matrons might reject the corruption?

And we may be looking at the issue the wrong way. The black stockings might be cheaper alternatives? The interwoven white stockings actually look like much stronger protection? And why would only wealthy acolyts be using them?

Perhaps they are simply more stylish! LoL I wonder what they are anyway, silk lined, polished leather?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Shabazik In reply to larqven [2013-01-11 17:32:50 +0000 UTC]

Indeed, the white woven ones look more acolytal (and more stronger).

The black and simple white ones are supposed to be spidersilk I think (rather than leather). I think leather would act differently, being them more boots than stockings. :3

larqven In reply to Shabazik [2013-01-11 19:20:09 +0000 UTC]

Well, "boots" IS pretty much how I imagine them. The footwear is integrated into the stockings. I've always thought of at least the acolytal stockings and armwarmers as being no joke--the white, interwoven leggings and armwarmers being maybe several millimeters thick. I actually imagine a complex weaving process in which the sheets of especially strong silk is covered with sticky resin or thin paste, glue-like material (possibly something derived from spiders, or petroleum), and then sandwiched between another sheet of silk, The sandwich sheet gets folded tightly together into thick strips, the strips further woven together into stockings. This is what I'm thnking of when I call the acolytes' leggings and armwarmers "laminate armor".

The resulting stockings are flexible and "breathe", much more so than leather boots, but are thick and rigid enough to almost "stand up" and keep their shape by themselves, and have an integrated sole for walking on and protection for the feet. The layers of silk and hardened glue like material making the leggings sort of water proof, and resistant to slashes. This a similar concept to the "cloth laminate armor" was believed to be used by the macedonians and greeks in Alexandrian times, though they didn't use spider silk and make leggings!

The black stockings do seem to be more thin, although they also have integrated foot wear. They are likely similar, but made by a different process? The outside may be coated in a thin, black "rubbery" material? I've always figured that the soles of the stockings had leather incorporated into them; but, thick pads of spidersilk and glue like binder material could probably do an equal or better job than leather?

Shabazik In reply to larqven [2013-01-11 21:17:55 +0000 UTC]

well, indeed they have soles, so it's as much a boot as a footwear, that's true!

And as well, I thought of them as some sort of laminated-drowy-thing light spidersilk armor. :3
