Description

Hello there!

This is the first of many Wings of Fire headcannon designs I will be posting, all of which will be featuring my horrific handwriting.

These headcannons are of course free to use, it would just be nice if you could show me your art and say where you got the design idea from.

Though I am sure that there are other Skywing designs like this one.

For ease of reading I will put everything (and a bit more) in the description.

I will also add more if I ever think of more things to add.Β  (best sentence in the whole description)

Skywing

Skywings are the largest of the pyrrihan tribes, their design is mostly inspired by birds of prey, carnivorous dinosaurs and alpine ibex.

- they have very long, rectangular wings, ideal for passive flight and usage of lift.

- the feathers on their wings are on both the dorsal and ventral side.

- they have the longest wing claws out of all the tribes.

While able to walk on all fours, they often use their wings as support, similar to bats, or simply walk on their hindlegs using their inflexible tail for balance, as their frontlegs have trouble supporting their weight.

Feathers cover about 2/3rds of their body which help regulate their body temperature.

These feathers, though not entirely fire resistent, do offer some protection against fire.

Similar to pet birds, a dragons health can be determined by the amount and condition of the feathers. The fewer or more ragged looking feathers the dragon has, the worse their health is.

They often have spikes on either side of their neck, conecting to their scaled throat.

Skywings are one of the two tribes with beaks.

Their horns are very similar to ibex horns, curving downward at the end, and grow continuously throughout their lives, spiraling back towards the dragons face as they age.

The most common scale colors are of course different hues and shades of red, orange and yellow, with more violet tones close behind.

Skywings feathers vary wildly in color, though they often carry a similar hue to the rest of the dragon, black feathers and yellow scales (for example) are not out of the ordinary.

They often have similar patterns to birds, wether it be genetically or cosmetic, like through paint.

That's it for now, if you have any questions feel free to ask!

Just to be sure :
