[link] Yesterday my internet connection was down the whole day (the horror!) so I had good time to paint something. I was hoping to get the internet connection back before midnight (EST) so that I could've posted this to 's DMAP event but nope.
Well, I love Vaporeon and I think that's a good enough reason to draw one. I tried a little different realistic approach than I've done before. Instead of doing a full collar-thing for Vaporeon I figured it could have some sort of fins instead, like fish do. (And I also wanted the neck to be more visible.)
Lately I've preferred to work on bigger paper, mostly A3. I think it's thanks to my school that I no longer feel that A3 is way too big a size to work on. And for some works it is a better size.
I also decided to work on a restricted colour palette. I only used three colours and no black. At all. Every colour in this picture (except for in some details I used an ochre colour) is a mixture of those colours. Or would be but my scanner was a bitch - again.

Wow, great vaporeon! I love its pose, just leaning against a rock, tail flapping out of the water, like a basking mermaid. Cool idea making the ruff look more like actual fins. I also like the webbed feet. One of the great things about vaporeon is that it's fun for artists to experiment with making it look more like an actual water creature instead of a foxy thing with some slightly fishy features.
And, as usual, I have to commend the gorgeousness of your lovely background. I just adore the look of the reflection on ripples of water, and the streak of ripples with a touch of light crimson is simply delightful. Absolutely excellent clouds too. You're really great at very subtle, mild sunsets, the tiny bit of pink against all that greyish blue is really beautiful. Kind of a glimmer-of-hope feel which is perfect for the tail-end-of-a-passing-storm theme of this scene.
Your painting is just so lovely, I love how you paint water. It looks like something that belongs in a picture book! You sure have skills!

Yup, those are wingull.
I use a pallet, yes, but only for acrylics (and oils if I have to use them) but not really for watercolours.
