POKEDDEX: YOUR CHOICE! VOL 2 has officially begun! During January 2020 I will draw my favourite Galar Pokémon, one a day based a custom prompt list I put together. The challenge includes all the new Galar Pokémon, Galarian forms and Gigantamax forms. If you wish to join in on the challenge you may use the hashtag #galarpokeddex

I'm finally back and ready to to finish this challenge! For my favourite legendary I chose Zamazenta although I think I grew to like Zacian more as I played the games. Zamazenta's Crowned Shield form was ultimately what made me choose the Shield version over Sword. I thought the shield design was very interesting and it actually turned out to be quite the challenge to design realistically, I tell you. I did a lot of sketches to figure out what kind of chimera Zamazenta would be but eventually decided to go with the same elements as with Zacian. It looks to me like Zamazenta can actually fold the shield partially so that made me think of wings again. I almost instantly thought of the intimidating pose birds like the wood grouse take and I think that makes a great shield formation. I was also inspired by a bird called frilled coquette which gave me the idea of a ruffled, feathery collar.

I quite like how this design looks next to my Zacian designs!
