I'm so glad I got to draw this gorgeous Pokémon. I really like Kingdra but as I was drawing it I realized it's kinda plain. It's very elegant and simplicity is good but I still went ahead to add some extra details and texture to make it look more like a mythical creature of the seas, a dragon even and distinguish it from a plain sea horse creature. I mostly used a common sea dragon as inspiration and added features from some odd ones. I kinda wanted to give Kingdra fins but I think it would have changed something about the design too much so I didn't go for it.
While working on this I remembered an old painting of Kingdra I did eight years ago. It has been a while so it was fun to see the the improvement.
It even took me less time to do the new one which is quite neat! The old one has a simple bg and two Kingdra but still. I think the level of detail in the new one makes up for it.

Amazing Kingdra! I really dislike the normal Kingdra's design, mostly because I think Seadra looks badass and its evolution kinda ruins it. But yours is so majestic and gorgeous! It looks so cool! The perfect fussion of a sea creature and draconic features I really REALLY like the texture on its scales.
