[Song that inspired me]I know I have a lot of commissions lined up and I'll get back to working on them now that this is done. Inspiration really strikes at the most unconventional moments sometimes.
I heard this amazing song by Zack Hemsey that really inspired me. I had doodled some barn owl gryphons and I wanted to use that design for my picture. So here's what I cam up with! Those of you who follow me on Tumblr probably saw some wips and if you still remember the very first sketch, it was a bit different from this. I do like how the picture kind of lived the life of it's own and became what it is without me even realizing it. It was such a relaxing piece to draw, you don't even know. And while I love Pokemon and drawing them I have to say I'm glad I did something else for a change. And I'm happy with how it turned out, too!

My word, this was really a relaxing piece? I find that hard to believe. This is the kind of picture I can barely dream of doing with all my most applied efforts and finesse. This is just so crystal clear, depth-filled and simply gorgeous.
Just that background alone! The milky swirlings of the galaxies are just so lovely and filled with mystery to look at. And the reflective floor, so perfect. Not to mention the brilliant sharpness of the main creature's appearance. You'd hardly realize this was a drawing. Just the way those wings fold out like a spreading cloak is plain magnificent! And I adore the details like the spots and tailfeathers and its handsomely mystical colouring, purple just like the enigmatic nebulae the creature is watching.Β
And the mystical, mythologically powerful epic look of the image matches the feel of that song perfectly! You know, Shinon, I'm really starting to think you should be an album artwork designer. If this is what you can create inspired by music just on your down time and so well suited to the sound of the piece at that, I can only imagine you being doubly outstanding at the top of your game! Breathtaking picture for a breathtaking piece, and I do love it!

It was very relaxing, whether you believe it or not. The inspiration helped me stay focused and I don't think I even ran into any big problems when I did this.
It would actually be really amazing to be able to design an album cover or maybe to draw a picture inside the album booklet. I really like drawing stuff inspired by music.
