Description
This is Tanya from the old beat 'em up, "Guardians of the Hood".It was an arcade game in 1992 by Atari. It was related to "Pit Fighter" and used digitized actors like "Mortal Kombat"
From what I can tell it seems like Tanya was the first black female playable in a beat 'em up game... not to be confused with a Vs. Fighting Game.
I decided to update her design a bit. Giving her some more modern biker shorts and a new sports bra design.
She was drawn with pencils I got from Jet Pens and colored using Manga Studio ex5

Did you know, that Tanya and two other playable characters were going to be in a sega genesis exclusive sequel to Pit Fighter. Infact Guardians of The Hood itself was a spiritual successor to Pit Fighter.

Yeah it's too bad that they never caught on enough. I will say that the home port of the original Pit Fighter I played on the SNES was not that great. I'm not sure of the quality of the other ports. It would be kind of cool if they revived the games and characters or even threw some of the characters into other fighting games for fun. I know some Mugen work was done with them though.
