Description Common dolphins (adults) in the Hauraki Gulf out of Auckland, New Zealand. Still haven't figured out if they are long beaked or short beaked ones, because I'm a poor excuse of a marine mammal scientist XD

Ohhh, so beautiful they are in that area of the world. Definitely Short-beaked common dolphins, spent hours and hours looking at photos of them from all over New Zealand and Australia, and the Long-beaked ones look very different anyway (plus, they aren't really supposed to live in that area, although I came across a picture of one!) Anyway, delphinus ramblings aside, this is a really lovely photo! For some reason it's especially nice to have such a 'mediocre' blue sea instead of one that's a hideously beautiful cyan or a dazzling deep navy blue. I don't know why, maybe fits better with the commons themselves. Love the movement you captured here too

Thanks so much Namu! Shooting these guys was chaotic but fun, they were everywhere and its so hard to know where to look/point your camera as you know!
