One of my favourite literary characters, Mayor Prentiss from the Chaos Walking trilogy by Patrick Ness. I always end up liking the villains...He is so complex and impossible to predict, but in such a calm manner it is juicy fun when someone knocks him off his perch. Right up to the end you hate what he does but you can't help but see sense in the way he talks. He's inhumanely human XD Gah I can't really explain why I like him so much without spoiling the books!
Been meaning to do this fan art for a while, but since I'm rereading the books it felt right. Wanted to get across his neatness and normality in an idyllic setting with a seemingly silent sky. Used google photos for pose and wheat
Not really in place of the last two daily stories but I like it XD

Whenever Todd talks to him and he gets all smiley and derpy, this is totally what's going on inside his head. He's having a total Sound of Music moment up there, but as soon as he snaps out of it, Todd'll have backed the fuck out of there and then he'll be sad again. D:
(Also, he's not overly young looking-- his face is vague enough that you can't really tell how old he is.)

Ahywho...Mayor's character is just...Awesome! I mean, we are supposed to hate him but...ughhh,he gives us soo many feels
I never actually rooted for The Answer, always wanted Mayor to win, dont know why trough>.<
And I kinda wanted to see Todd go mad like him...it would be fun to see that...no?...yeeeah...Im the creepy one XD
Patrick Nesskinda wrote the Mayor in a way that makes you almost think his a normal human beeing, and then BOOM he goes of and does something like shooting someone(my poor Davy baby;.
Pfff...Ok, I have gooone too far from the subject....wanted to say that this pic is just amazing, the colors are well combined, harmony of the picture is well displayed

Yeah the picture doesn't really make him old enough perhaps but I imagine him at least 30 too XD Yeah he's a very complex character, you never know what he'll do and he acts so evil then not evil aaaaaah. Yeah you're probably not supposed to like the Answer.
I know right! Davy was becoming so much less dislikeable...crazy man. Hehe no it's good to ramble about things you enjoy. Seems this series has quite a few hardcore fans
Aw thank you very much. Ever since I started rereading the series I wanted to do fanart of it. I can see the scenes like a film...speaking of which, the film better do the books justice! *no idea how they'll do the Noise and make Todd likeable since everything he does is stupid but it isn't when you can read his mind...*

There are too many thing that are important and the Noise that I really dont know how their gonna pull off...I mean, I dont want to see Todd just looking at some tree for like 5mins, his thought being showed>.> And the bettle of Mayor and Todd, that has to, HAS to be epic!

This is awesome! I love the trilogy myself.
I think Mayor Prentiss is interesting.. we can easily think him a villain, but.. of course, he doesn't think he is. Or maybe he does, but.. yeah, he still thinks he's doing good.
He is human.. frank, practical, even, but.. yeah, there's something wrong about him.
It would be amazing if the trilogy became a film.
And this is lovely! I imagined him to be a bit older, but this definitely works. I like the point of view and how.. as we look up, he also looks up, and the way his arms are open .. creates a feeling of embrace and whatnot.

Yeeeah I bought the first one for a friend but was so interested I got myself one. Since then they've sort of wormed their way into my fave books list XD
Yeah the most realistic 'bad guys' are those that don't think they're in the wrong.

Hmm...good question. I think perhaps colouring your lineart like Matt showed us in one of his more recent videos could work but it's totally up to you.
