I'm so used to the darkness, the consuming emptiness was all I've known
But to many this emptiness was never shown
Some say they could see it in my eyes, in the smile that never was
A smile that was always there but hollow from within

To be broken is all I've ever felt
Losing what I held so tight, this damaging sorrow was dealt
Left forever in a blizzard, with no coat, no sun
My frost bite and scars run so ever deep

The darkness is all I've ever written about
Happiness is an expression i've been unable to express, cause I've had my doubts
Doubts that it would last, why write about something I've barely known
Why write about something I've barely shown

But I can feel it underneath my skin
It's barely breathing, but it's alive, the pulses spin
It hasn't been long since She pulled me from this deep dark sleep
It hasn't been long since I've felt the sun coursing through my veins

But I feel my pulse flowing, I feel my heart beat going
I can feel this radiant light eagerly flowing
All I've known is this darkness in my writing
But I can feel this light, I can see myself fighting

To be free once more
