Strange how Sora DIDN'T turn into a darkling when he turned into a heartless.

According to Nomura, Sora turned into a Shadow because he never had much darkness in his heart to begin with, at least back when he was still 14 and innocent(KH3 Sora is supposed to be "darker" in Nomura's words). Whereas the Keybladers that became Darklings had accumulated an enormous amount of Darkness energy via the Power Bangles that the Nightmare Chirithy gave them.

IKR?! Why a Shadow?
(In the game's defense, Unchained didn't come out for another decade, and it was rumored KH1 was supposed to be a standalone instead of a series)
Just imagine Sora as a Darkling! Flying around Radiant Garden instead of on foot... (as a Darkling, would they still wield Keyblades? the ones in Unchained could still sort-of talk still)
Side question: If all (or some/most) of the players in Unchained turned into Darklings (not including those who fought in the war)
How come we don't see a bunch of Darklings wandering around? What would the Nobody of them be like? Would it be the Dusks?? Would Eraqus have turned into one? What about the remnants of the Dandelions across the centuries?
Oh the possibilities!!
