Description
I've had this finished for... weeks? But haven't had the time to upload it what with starting a new job etc.
I'm rather proud of the lighting on this, as well as the fact I didn't use a ref for the person. And I finally have the bugs worked out about how the stables look! (Huge change from one of the other images I posted almost a year ago... we'll just say they remodeled? )

Tuesday morning at Meadow Lark Stables brought with it warm sunshine and a very ticked off Bashki. Once again Summer reared up on her hind legs in protest of the commands given to her. Lyric sighed in frustration and lowered the lunging whip to the ground.

Summer had fought her hoof and teeth since they had begun training over an hour and a half ago. Normally the girl wouldn't attempt to train a horse for so long but she had been determined to make progress with the Luy Bashka.

When they first began training that morning Lyric had left the lunging whip out, hoping to simply convince Summer to move in a circle with clicking and a bit of swishing on the lunge line. That had proven futile. The mare had simply stood and blandly stared at the trainer. The lunging whip hadn't proved to be much better to keep the mare moving. Lyric would never touch it to a horse but normally those that she worked with were happy to move forward when the lunging whip was held behind them. Summer had only listlessly walked forward even when the training tool was right behind her.

With any other horse Lyric wouldn't have given up, but Bashki were notoriously stubborn and she didn't think she could win this stand off.
"Fine, have it your way," she muttered and headed towards the gate. Summer, realizing she had won for now, quickly fell into step behind the girl.

"Of course, now you move."
It was a short walk to the pasture where the other mares were grazing on the south side of the stable grounds. The current lead mare Eris tossed her head up at the site of Summer and Lyric, her ears pricked forward. Lyric opened the gate and lead Summer through behind her. As soon as her harness was removed the Luy trotted off towards the rest of the herd who moved to greet her. Lyric slipped out through the fence bars and watched the mares bonding grooming for a few minutes before heading to the staff/guest quarters for a quick lunch.
She entered through the mud room, taking off her boots and shaking a bit of sand that clung to her off, before walking into the main house. Wesley was in the computer room and grunted a hello, clearly occupied with whatever horse site he was currently browsing. Lyric smiled and shook her head as she made her way to the kitchen. Daisun was already there fixing himself a sandwich he smiled when she entered.

"Want one?"

"Sure," Lyric replied, a sandwich sounded delicious. She opened the fridge and pulled out a sports drink. Even though it was still technically the middle of winter it was surprisingly hot outside meaning sweat and lots of it. As she sat down at the bar counter she thought over this mornings failed training session, trying to figure out if there was something she could have done differently.

"What's with the frown?" Daisun asked as he brought over her sandwich and set it down on the counter.

"I spent a huge chunk of this morning working on voice commands with Summer. I tried every technique that I could think of and nothing seemed to work she simply refuses to cooperate."
Daisun mulled this over for a few seconds before responding,
"Well, I'll be honest I've never had to teach a horse voice commands, but have you tried saying please?"
"What?" Lyric asked, surely she'd heard him wrong.
"I know it sounds silly," Daisun chuckled, "But think about it. You're working with a noble breed who demands respect in all other aspects of her life why should this be any different?"
Lyric was shocked, it did sound silly but by this point she was desperate. Maybe she should give it a try, after all, what harm could it do?
