The Russian Space Federation, formerly known simply as Russia, as well as often called just Russia, is a military superpower within the United Nations. Although not as strong as the United Space States of America, or the Orion Arm Republic, the Russian Space Federation is strong through a mix of industrial might and advancements in technology, utilising Particle Accelerator Batteries alongside railguns, missiles and Space Torpedoes to devastating effect. They are much superior to the USSR and the Russia before them, as an appreciation of culture permeates the people of the Russian Space Federation, willing to accept almost any culture and any race as long no one is being hurt.

The Russian Space Federation is also very patriotic and has an intense sense of unity, strength and self-preservation thanks to the Invader War, in which the lands of Russia were riddled with Invader landing sites, with the Russian military falling apart quickly and with Putin's assassination in early May of 2032. Russia virtually had no hope until Operation Rodina.

Operation Rodina began on the 21st of May, and started with the largest aerial battle of Russia's history, hundreds of Russian fighters engaged an Invader Landing Craft heading to a major landing site meant to replace the one Operation Starstorm crippled. The Russian aircraft damaged the Landing Craft, forcing it to crash and destroy the landing site. The the rest of Operation Rodina was a major counterattack, hundreds of thousands of soldiers, tanks, IFVs, APCs and more charging into battle, even several militia groups joined as well.
Operation Rodina was so large that it even expanded into eastern Europe and into the southern regions of Asia.

Only one phrase was said that the Invaders heard, one phrase that struck fear into the hearts of the strongest of them: "FOR THE RODINA"

The word 'Rodina' even gained a second meaning, Motherworld, as Earth was the birthplace of humankind.

This part of Russia's history would forever leave a mark on Russian culture, making them both proud of their people, while also becoming hyper-militaristic, ready to handle every threat. Although this has clashed with the USSA's more confronting methods, as the Russian Space Federation has taken a more defensive stance for centuries, despite having a military capable of major offensives.

During the US-Rus War of the 2810s, the UNDC made a huge split of territory that prevented both sides from going through until relations calmed down. This split in territory included worlds such as :Valhalla, Midgard, Elysium, Eden and the entire TRAPPIST-1 System.

In recent decades, the Russian Space Federation has brought in more species, such as Salomax and Avali refugees and even some Protogens from the Orion Arm Republic. The Russian Space Federation has also made efforts to further fortify the Sol System and any Russian borders close to the Fringe Territories.
