In Finnish mythology it was believed that birds can move between real world and spirit world. Therefore when somebody died in the house, it was forbidden to disturb birds in the following days, because they could be the ones meant to escort the soul to the underworld.

Oh, I wasn't expecting to see ghosts ! The landscape you've painted is beautiful and the subtlety of the spirits and dark contrast of the birds works very well. I've also learned a bit of Finnish folklore!

Thank you! I like how the ghosts turned out for this piece. Personally I think I could have had better composition for the birds and paint them bigger and more detailed and maybe add some more spruces. I think I'll repaint this someday...
