Description Okay, so I asked you guys to help me out by thinking of titles. I chose "Misted Dream" as the first one of the three I plan on doing. I haven't figured out which other two I'll be doing, but that'll come in time. I was actually thinking about making a piece with this same title a while ago, but never got around to it.

Basically, black horses are my favorite, or "dream" color of horse. It's a bonus if they have extra long manes, so it only makes sense for me to put a Friesian in here. The "misted" part should be quite obvious in here.

I'm not too overjoyed with how this one came out, but I like it enough to put it up here. (I think I should start making more close-up detailed stuff digitally.) To me, my digital paintings always seem so "plasticy" and don't have a very real quality to them. I think I need more patience. Anyways, thanks for the title idea!

Photoshop CS2 and wacom. Don't have a clue about time.

It reminds me of how I envisioned night mares to look (or some other creature that lives in and because of dreams).

This is really great! Liked reading about your process of choosing the name for your gallery. I like Friesians, too.

Thank you! It's always interesting to hear how others have chosen their names. How did you choose yours?

I grew up on a ranch at the base of Mt Tom. It is located in a canyon west of Golden called Golden Gate Canyon. It is quite a handsome mountain with a lot of history. Google Mt Tom Colorado and you will out more information on it. I need to get a picture of it from the plains, as many people who see it don't know the name of it, or the mountain next to it. Some people have encouraged me to use a title with my last name instead, like Blissful Images - but that is just sounds too generic.

That's cool! Very interesting story about that. I do like it when people are creative with their names and I think yours fits and sounds really nice.

I think this is gorgeous, and very appropriately wintery! Really like the idea of tonal perspective going through to the hind end of the horse. And the face is really pretty.

I've been feeling the same way about my digital paintings too - for a long while I've been lazy and not done anything about it, but since I've been doing a few digital works over the past couple of weeks, it made me think about it more.
I think one of the things to watch is edges. It applies to trad art as well, but there's something about digital that flags up edges like the sharp edge of a knife - things can end up looking flat and pasted on top of one another. So I tried softening round the edges a little bit more, which helped give a better effect of 3d shape, but if you overdo it, it just looks like you've been using a brush that's too soft!! It's a difficult balance!

I hear you on the plastic effect too. I don't even know how to counteract that

Thanks very much! I spent more time on the face than anything else.

Yeah, I was actually just talking to my sister about that yesterday. It's really frustrating when you know that other people can make it look very nice, but then you try similar techniques or styles and it just doesn't look that good. :/ Maybe it's just a practice thing...

Ha! Well, if you ever figure it out, be sure to let me know.

Yeah I think it's a practise thing. That, or there's some big secret about it that we've yet to find out
