Description Like all watercolours, pls FULL VIEW, you'll miss out if u don't!

Watercolour: A4

Suggestive rendering.

Scene from the dry Karoo; a desert-like region in central South Africa.

I did this ages ago, so it's not that good, and my scanner really screwed it up.

I really like your watercolours (personally I'm not worth crap with any paints not thick enough that I can smear it on with my fingers ), this one stuck out as having a bit more of a foreground which I like.

This is very well done. I think as far as landscape painting, watercolor lends itself to a more abstract style, since it can imply detail without imposition on the overall piece. Compared to your other landscapes, this and Sunset really stand out.

At the risk of sounding pretentious; with your skill, you could create some really provocative work if you chose to be less a painter and more an artist. Although I like the foray into photo, since divergent styles can do wonders for an artist's evolution, I am looking forward to spectacular things out of your brush.

Ink Well, with its suggestion of furious motion within the environment of the still, is also quite nice.

I don't have a exact brush method (my art teacher always shouted at me for my bad technique...i tend to use a brush like a pencil), but for this painting I used a really wet brush on a dry sheet of paper. It's easy to get the desired effect by increasing the wetness of your brush. I love to have hard dark patches of colour and watery patches right next to each other (it gives the object or painting a 3dimensional quality). Can I tell u a secret...the spots and dots for the texture on the ground is spatter from a toothbrush! That's why I love watercolour, you can use brushes, fingers, sponges, toothbrushes and it always look like it was meant to come out that way (when most of the time it's only a happy accident!)

You say it is not good. But the colors appear so bold and bright. And even if the colors are not right, they do not hide the bold, beautiful, and efficient brushstrokes that I enjoy so much in your works. Great job!

At first sight, I questioned the scale of this painting. At the base of the tree, to the right, it looks as if there may be a small group of people but it can also just be the emerging roots.

The blues and the dirty oranges work well to compliment each other and the cracked nature of the tree is rather nice.

Another interesting piece
