Description So this portrait of Kevin McKid is my homage to one of the best shows, which was Rome and to one of the best actors I've ever seen.

I am pleased that you like this portrait. Are you a fan of the show Rome? The photo I took this from has plumage on his helm. However when I attempted to draw that it didn't look like anything so I took it out.

Very cool! We're working our way through this series right now and enjoying it quite a bit. Wonderful work you've done here.

By the way another good show you may like. Spartacus on Stars. That best way to describe that show is, is, well...Its all about the cock. Sex, more sex, swords, blood, more blood, sex, more sex, swords and sex. I mean the whole process just keeps repeating itself exactly in that fashion. Now one would think that that formula would not be successful. Wrong! Its not an intellectual show like Deadwood or Rome. Spartacus is like 300 but with a lot more sex and blood.

And it does it successfully.

Well, now, there are people who turn their nose up at that kind of thing...

...I'm not one of them, of course, but there are people like that.

Thanks for the referral! I will definitely look into it. I like to have these things going in the background while I draw in the evening, and "swords and sex" would certainly fit the bill.

That's what I did. I just watched it on my lap top and drew while I was drawing. Strangely enough it wasn't the sex that made me look up. It was the gladiator fights. There really cool.

He has plumage on his helmet, but when I drew it with a black background it didn't look like much of anything. So I just took it out.

I am glad you like it. That means it really must be good. This took me a long time to draw.

Yes, I know he's missing the plumage, but it is totally unnecessary in this picture, given how you approached it. My two favorite parts are how you addressed the texture of the metal in the medium, and how there are all of these subtle gray tones throughout the picture EXCEPT in his eye, which is strictly black and white. If the eyes truly are the window to the soul, then it's a metaphor for how he's viewing things right now, which is, I'm assuming, something along the lines of: "If you do not desist, I will kill you." That look actually shows up in a lot of my work, too. I call it "The Look of Death." You've captured it very, very well here.
