I have been listening to Blind Guardian's "The Bard's Song" when I did this painting. Of course, this is another story about a blind bard girl. made for a fantasy magazine cover, but I just like that song.Now you all know
The bards and their songs
When hours have gone by
I'll close my eyes
In a world far away

Tomorrow will take us away
Far from home

It is like an illuminated book of olden days, the colours are so vibrant and the general feel of the painting makes me wish I was alive during the medieval times... but who says I wasn't alive then? >.>
The way this is painted makes it look as if it was actually painted traditionally!

I find that I keep returning to this piece whenever I look through my 'favourites'....I truly do love this picture! The lighting (particularly the shafts of sunlight through the trees on the right), the colours, the composition, the concept....just everything. I looked through the comments and couldn't believe that I hadn't commented, other than to say I'd featured it in my journal last year. I don't often comment of the pieces I 'favourite', but with this one I had to let you know how much I just adore this painting...if it was a print I most certainly would be buying it (something that I haven't wanted to do with the majority of the work I see on DA). Blind Guardian's song is awesome, and so is your idea....entwine them together in this painting and it is just epic, beyond words. It has such a dreamy quality that I feel I could sit like the dragon and watch and listen all day, caught up in the brilliant moment you have captured.

Gorgeous. The scene is almost overwhelming in content while still managing to flow, and to not feel chaotic. Great colors and detail alongside really whimsical stylization. Definitely one of the more appropriate pieces to apply the phrase "work of art" to!
