Although the Svantovit APC was little more than 50 years old, in truth it had aged poorly and very quickly. With the introduction and widespread adoption of Elementals and Battle armour by the Clans, most Clans quickly placed pure foot infantry forces in garrison positions and the Svantovit was suddenly without a role. Built to carry normal troops, not the massive Elementals or their battlesuits, the Svantovit could, in theory, carry a Point of five Elementals, but embarking and disembarking was incredibly hard as there are only two exits on the sides of the tank.

Designed in 2999 the new APC would come in at 40-tons, five tons heavier than the Svantovit but needed as it was mostly devoted to increasing the space for the troops. A fuel cell engine delivered the power needed whilst removing most of the bulky ‘plumbing’ that fusion reactors used, and this resulted in a far bigger troop compartment and a longer hull with larger doors for ingress and exit.The new hovercraft APC would be called the Eris, after the Greek Goddess of chaos and discord who often accompanied Ares into battle
