Description Made my first leather flask! Hardened it with resins instead of wax, so that one may put near what ever drink you want inside Made it to fit my somewhat plainer looking gears, and so I tried making it look ragged and not as well made with coloring flaws and such

Beautiful work! Very nice shape to it, too.

Questions, if I may be so bold:
1. What kind of resins did you use, and how did you apply them?
2. Will the resins you used prevent the flask from flavoring the contents, and allow you to fill it with different drinks at different times without the drinks flavoring the flask itself?

(Ok, that's technically more than 2 questions, but as they are interrelated, I thought I'd cheat. )

Thank you for sharing your work, it's very inspiring, as well as beautiful to look at!

thanks!
1 I used TASK-series resins!
2 Well, it should be able to hold both hot and cold drinks, and liquors if one prefers without it damaging the flask in any way! About the plastic flavouring the contents or the flask itself is not tested enough as I haven't had it for to long but it should not in any way

You're welcome!

1. Awesome, I shall make note of that.
2. I look forward to any updates regarding the effects of assorted liquids on the lining, and vice-versa, if any.

Thank you again for sharing your inspiring work!

I don't know actually=S I imaging that these would end up around 150USD or so if sold due to the resins and all, but as with any leather goods I sell, that would depend alot on how the flask would look, be built ahd how much it would contain!

It's awesome. I love the shape! I made my first leather bottle a few weeks ago with a resin, but I wasn't happy with it... what kind did you use? I think I'm going to try salad bowl finish or butcher's block finish next to see if it works, since the wax and I... didn't get along. X)

I used TASK-plastics and they worked great! Just make sure you use a substance thick enough! Otherwise I can imagine that getting it even inside (especially around the sewing) can be real tricky!

The resin I tried was Envirotex lite, since I had heard good things about it from other people who make leather mugs and bottles. It went in thick and it's definitely waterproof and looks/feels good, but it has a distinct chemical smell and taste. It's probably safe, but I would feel weird selling bottles as "functional" when I'm not 100%. Maybe I will try the beeswax again! Or maybe look into TASK... thanks!
