Originally done on paper, plain old pen, most of it drawn free hand with pen directly, not pencils! >
Colors and shading were thrown in on Photoshop. And yes, I mean thrown. This was more something on composition, lines, and patterns, pretty coloring would've made the piece too complex and distracting, thus the rather monochromatic colors and the lack of shading for the most part. >< I know, total artist babble. No, that is not a Maiko, maiko are too sweet, I just simply choose a Maiko-esque hair do, namely the momoware style. It's one of my characters(Setaiha) with her hair done up in a style similiar. This is something a little different then I normally upload, this kind of babble is usually left to rot in my sketch books, but I really liked the composition of this one, and it wasn't utter babble sketching, there's some reaccuring motifs and story elements. ><

At first, when looking at it in full view, I thought this piece was too busy. Taking a step backwards however it starts to really grow on you.
The colour and shading is excellent and is what drew me to the work in the first place. Love the sense of story / life you've captured in it, the love, the artistic, the sadness and even the murder that seems to have taken place; her bloody hands contrasts incredibly hard with what she as a geisha stands for and make you reconsider the whole piece all over again.
Excellent job, I like art that makes me view it from different angles and makes me thing about what I'm seeing, well done!

This is a very unique and interesting piece. I love how you can look at it for a really long time and always discover something new. I love the expressiveness of it and the motion in all of the elements. Very cool

Wow, I love the stylistic feel of the pic, I can't put my finger on why, but I do. I like all the black and the way that every little piece is different to the last. My favourite bits are the eye in the middle about a third of the way up, the bit in the top right corner, and the leafy-bubbly thing in the bottom right.
Only thing I could think to improve would be to make Setaiha's hair a little more stylized and less detailed, to fit with the rest of the pic. That's not really even a criticism though, 'cause it's still very good, just in a different way to the rest of the pic.

Have you seen my work before? We are using similar symbols, keys and whatnot. Also the ink. I'd love to see the color done in a traditional flowing watercolor...kind of like the older ukiyo-e works.
