That's nothing. Really. You should see my later Wizard of Oz stuff in my gallery. I'm working on making my stuff better for when I actually draw my story. Thanks for liking!

If that's your first time drawing a lion, you deserve extra kudos -- that was my favorite part, along with your depiction of Dorothy. (I still insist that Dorothy is supposed to be blonde, but it's a losing battle -- and I do like your Dorothy!)

Well, this Dorothy is naturally blonde (more platinum blonde these days in my 50's now). I was named after Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz...

Cool! Dorothy was my first literary hero, and my first fictional crush. And, yes, blonde, since the first book collection my parents got me were Baum's Oz books. She was blonde in all but the first one, of course, and that made an impression on me. I loved the MGM movie too, but the movie Dorothy just seems like a pale imitation.

Thank you,
I'm glad Dorothy was blonde, it makes me even happier that I was named after her, being blue eyed and blonde myself.

When my own Oz book eventually comes out, you can be sure I'll stick with that hair and eye color!

Thanks for your comment. I think Dorothy's hair is always depicted as brunette because of Alice in Wonderland. However if you've ever played Alice for PC her hair is brunette. I guess it all depends on the art direction.
I'm actually redrawing this piece as we speak. My style has improved a bit since 2006. And when I'm done with it I'm going to draw it again, but in a dark twisted manner. Thanks again for your comment.

If this is the first time you've drawn a lion, it is difficult to tell. The Cowardly Lion is excellently presented, so life-like for illustrative. I very much like all of the expressions on the characters, especially Dorothy. The entire presentation is a welcome from what we usually see from the quartet. The Flying Monkey is an especially humourouse touch. Nice work, and I'm adding this to my favourites.
