Summary: Study up on how to trap a spirit in a talisman, then find an object to use as a talisman. Those who put the most effort into this will be rewarded next month.

Sitting at his desk, Rayven did his best to read the book given to him by Professor Mika. But the words just seemed to ball into one big mess. How was he going to do this when he didn't even understand how to read, let alone how to perform the magic necessary to do this trap.

Frustrated with himself, he growled and flopped backwards in his chair. What was he thinking? He can't do this. He was stupid compared to everyone else, they had to treat him with kid gloves. And he spoke like a child. He knew it. And yet for his kind, he was only two short years until he was full grown and his aging with slow massively. In the first ten years of life, his kind aged at double the rate of a human. By time they were 10 in human years, he'd be 20 years is maturity, looks and it would be time to seek a mate. He'd be a full grown werewolf male. But currently he felt like such a child. His development slowed because his biological parents thought him weak.

Maybe they were right... Maybe he was as weak as they thought him to be?

Sighing in self-defeat, Rayven began to cry. He hated himself on the best of days because compared to his new mother and father, he was an idiot.

Suddenly his ears pitched back as he heard the door behind open. Wiping his eyes and sniffling, he turned and noticed Shaya entering. "Momma?"

Worry knit her brows as she approached. "Rayven, I knocked but you didn't hear me. Are you all right?"

He looked away. He didn't want to tell her the truth. But as she rested her hands upon his bare shoulders, he noticed the loving look in her eyes and knew that she knew.

"Would you like help?" she spoke softly.

Nodding sullenly, he felt her sit beside him. "Momma? Rayven stupid..."

But Shaya laughed. "Not a all. Rayven is very intelligent. You've learned so much already." Then reaching across the table, she grabbed an ornate pendant with a brilliant ruby wrapped in silver. "Hold this," she smiled and he did as requested. "Do you remember what I said when I gave this to you?"

He nodded. "Momma say Rayven smart. Brave. And is loved."

"And...."

"That if Rayven scared, or feel stupid to hold and think of momma and papa's love," he smirked slightly, remembering the first week he had starting living with them and how Shaya had spoiled him. Since he didn't know his birthday, she had thrown him a party with cake and this pendant was a gift. She had said is was an heirloom through the Draculea line, and he was as much apart of her family as her own children were.

Shaya smiled, touching his cheek. "Okay, why don't you read to momma and I'll help you if you need it. Take your time. I've got time to kill."

So as the night faded into day, Rayven read until his eyes grew heavy and before long he laid across his book, holding his momma's gift and drifted to sleep.

Giggling to herself, Shaya got up and grabbed a blanket from the bed. Then throwing it over his shoulders, she gave him a soft kiss to his head. Whispering gently, "I love you, Rayven. Don't ever leave me."
