My very latest work, of one of my favorite music artists, Lindsey. Her hair was a pain for me to draw, & I know it's not perfect, but overall, I'm pretty satisfied with how it turned out. Probably my best portrait yet. Done with Derwent pencils. Graphite shades, I don't even know, I just pick up whatever pencil is in front of me.By the way, if you've never heard of Lindsey Stirling, you need to look up her albums. They are really awesome, & I'm in love with them!!

Yes, I've been teaching myself for about 4 months now, so I'm still a total beginner, I can't make a great tone yet, & well...I get pretty frustrated with it. Lol!

Haha yeah it's tough. ..I remember how many times sir used to make me play a string so tht I can perfect the bowing lol ...even I'm the kind who loses patience ...but I've somehow overcome tht ...haha ...playing since I was 9 ....

Lol! Bowing is definitely my problem. My bow stick always quivers on the down bow, & makes the tone sound shaky (it drives me crazy... ). It's not as bad as it used to be, but I hope I can eliminate it completely someday. Playing since you were 9, huh? I actually started violin when I was little, but I quit. I should've kept at it, like you. Hehe.
I don't think anyone "masters" anything. There's always something new & more difficult to learn with whatever anyone is studying. But I'm sure your playing still sounds great!

haha mayybbeee.... you keep your bow turned too tight???if it is tht way... its always shaky... try to check tht out ...it might help and tilt the bow to the inner side of the violin while playing...it helps to stop the scrreching sound too!!

I've done a lot of research on why the bow shakes. Bow hair too tight, hand grip too tight, which creates tension, tension in shoulders, etc. My bow hair isn't too tight, & I make sure to keep a loose bow hold. The shakes are worse when I'm not warmed up, so maybe it's just something that will disappear over time? And I always tilt the bow when I'm playing at the frog, because yes, it would sound like a dying cat or something.
Yep, that's the bad thing about learning something...it really tests your patience. XD

ohh hmm..maybe then its practise haha... even I remember I had tough time playing violin at first..ha! well it gets better with more practise 
yeah lol... the violin always sound the most beautiful when u play it right and a little mistake spoils everything lol... u cant either make people listen to you play or run away screaming when u play a violin ..lol... XDD

Mistakes really do spoil everything! Lol! I'm curious, have you ever performed for an audience? Or do you just play for your own pleasure? I could never perform for a crowd...I'd die of stage fright. XD

yeah I have.... I play at church every Sunday...I have gone to play in many like for feasts and stuff...haha and well I have played for my music class functions ... so im used to playing for a huge audience...especially at church haha...well stage fright..i still get it now but once u start playing the violin..u get lost in the music... its only me and my violin and the music...nobody else... its like fantasy as long its a song I like...haha..so it really doesn't matter after a while how many people are watching you...
so just don't be afraid... take your chance... its really gonna help...

Oh wow. So you've really had some exposure then! My family thinks I should play for the church next Christmas Eve, but I don't even want to think about it right now. I'm not even a decent player yet. Lol. How long had you been playing violin before you started performing for people?

well... I guess 3-4 years... I didn't perform...not till I appeared for music exam grades from London and got a considerable grade

I like her music ^^ And this picture does her justice in terms of happiness. That's the aura she seems to give all the time.
The art looks fantastic.
One area could be made even better: the part between her face and the violin. I can't tell if it's her hair there, the violin head/neck rest of something else. So I would have loved that area to be a bit more defined I guess. Apart from that, I find the drawing flawless
