EDIT: Sold!Another necklace I finished earlier today. I took me two days of working off and on, but that's only because Mondays and Wednesdays are my long days... and I hadn't finished my homework for my classes today. >w>
Sorry for how over exposed the photo is. Β The lighting in my dorm is pretty harsh. And... well, I'm too lazy to go back and try to get a decent shot.
Her neck and face came out fine, at least. : D

I will and have worked with precious/semi-precious gemstones before, but I usually only use them in commission pieces due to their cost.

It's not always bad to have a roommate that tans under a 60 watt light bulb. I find that they can be some of the most photogenic people.

Well, that might be beneficial to some, but Maddie doesn't tan. As in she is physically incapable of such. We've tried, both via natural sunlight and the tanning bed's at her uncle's salon.
It's not that Maddie is "non-photogenic," because she's quite the opposite. All skin tones can be beautiful, some are just a little harder to capture with their proper colour in tact. Especially when working with harsh fluorescent/yellow lights, which gives my camera problems with everything (and everyone) since my camera lacks an adjustable tungsten setting. >w<

I'm actually the same way when it comes to tanning and photogenic ability. I think it may be a quirk that some have because I have yet to see someone that doesn't tan and isn't photogenic, as strange as that sounds. :/ But, I do agree that all skin tones are beautiful. I sometimes wish there was a potion to give me the capability to wear a different skin if only for a day. XP
And lighting is a PAIN. I always struggled with it, even when I was in the sun. (But, that could be because it was burning me. We may never know. XD)
