Description
This is a recording of a commissioned promo poster I painted for an upcoming author for his novel; "Sebastian Cornwell".It features the main two characters of the novel.
(The video starts after I had already sketched it out and placed the base colors of the guys (Sebastian's) face. I stopped and thought: "Hmm....I should probably record this one" haha)
I didn't record the entire sessions, but just the bulk of it
There was too much back and forth between my client and myself to keep a steady start-to-finish workflow hehe.Photoshop CS5
15 hours or so.
Airbrush + Texture brushes.
Dodge/Burn and Sharpen/Blur for finishing touches!

1. How do you turn the picture?! I haven't found the shortcut for PS right now.
2. By 2:48 whats the brush you are using and with settings?!

1. The Rotate tool is only in Photoshop CS5 and above (hot key 'R')
2. They are awesome skin texture brushes! More info here: [link]
3. I think that's just the standard airbrush I'm using there. I tend to add skin texture, then go over it again with an airbrush to smooth it out, add more texture, smooth it out, and keep doing that hehe.

Thank you! I'll try the rotate tool. I got used to it in OpenCanvas but missed it in Photoshop xD
I'm using the same brushes as you referred in several pictures. I think I need a closer look onto shading with these. You're art is just wow!

That was pretty awesome, I just wanted to know how you selected the colours without the palette and you didn't seem to be colour dropping? Maybe I'm just missing something.

It is probably too fast to notice, but I color picked off the photos he supplied me with, and I also have another little window open down in the corner with some base colors too

Ah I love watching these. Brilliant job! It's one thing to see an artist's work to improve your own, but it's so much more to actually see what you do step by step to achieve such a masterpiece. Quite inspiring to watch.
