Description ...in every family.

This one time I wondered, "What would other magical girl/shojo mascots think of Kyubey?". Then I remembered this poster:[link]
And thus this image was born.

And before I start goin' on and on about this, I must announce something: If you HAVEN'T WATCHED Puella Magi Madoka Magica- anime series (a.k.a. Madoka Magica) yet, you SHOULD DO SO ASAP. "Why?", you ask. "It's just another stupid and corny magical girl show filled with ridiculously flashy transformation scenes and overly frilly costumes, right?" Well judging from the first two episodes, one could easily say "yes". HOWEVER, one should KEEP WATCHING 'TILL THE END OF 3RD EPISODE before considering to give up on this series because that's when things take a rather grim and depressive turn... and then they just keep getting worse. One could say that this series collects all the main cliches of magical girl-genre, punches them in the face before tossing them to the highway (where they get smashed to pieces by an oncoming truck).

Did that convince you? Then you should follow the next advice as well: stay the hell away from Madoka fanart, amvs etc. until you've watched ALL THE 12 EPISODES. That's right, that's all there is to this show and now that it has ended, there are gazillion topics/pieces of fanmade stuff out there, ready to spoil your experience. This show can provide you one hell of an emotional rollercoaster ride IF you know NEXT TO NOTHING BEFOREHAND!! So turn back now (because I can't guarantee that the comments posted here are spoiler free), watch this show and (hopefully) return back later ^^.

But that's enough Madoka advertising for now. For those who are curious, the characters featured around QB (starting from the left down corner)are: Hippo from Mermaid Melody series (my gawd was that show horrible), two Mokonas from Tsubasa:Reservoir Chronicles (Soel and Larg), Masha from Tokyo Mew Mew (one of the ugliest magical girl mascots I've ever seen), Ioryogi from Kobato (I propably should watch that series someday), Chocola from Time Stranger Kyoko (made by Arina Tanemura, though this manga only has a single OVA counterpart) Wiz/With from D.N.Angel, Yuno from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, Nyozeka from Alice 19th (Yuu Watase's manga-only series), Luna and Artemis from Sailor Moon and finally Kero-Chan/Cerberus hanging from Spinel Sun's tail (the series being my favorite shojo anime Card Captor Sakura).

As one can see, some of the characters (most notably Chocola and Yuno) aren't colored as well as the rest. The reason for this is the fact that I lacked the proper colours so I had to improvise & compromise. I didn't want to colour Yuno with the same colour as Nyozeka's tie/ribbon-thing so I used some crappy Stabilo marker instead of my golden copic. I kinda regret that now... As for Chocola I somehow thought that her face had a similar shade to that of human skin but then it turned out that her face had actually a"natural white" shade, like her paws... Whatever. I had to make many compromises with Nyozeka's annoyingly detailed outfit as well (when I was still making the lineart for it, I quickly realized why Watase usually drew her as a simple rabbit shaped purse instead of her humanoid form -_-). The only real regret I have for her colouring is that coloured her light grey instead of keeping her white. As for Luna, the screencap I used for reference [link] obviously has dark blue Luna and yet, in many other screencaps, she's dark grey/black. So please, don't go "Lunas not blu, u f'king r3tard !!!!111!!!

I originally intented to leave the background white, just like the Disney poster. The problem was that most of the characters I used are pretty darn small due to their mascot status. And most of them were either white or otherwise pale coloured. Leaving the background white would have enhanced the feeling of having "too much useless space in the picture". I tried to help this situation a little by colouring Nyozeka light grey before coming to a conclusion that white background simply wouldn't do. Thus, I used a very light shade of pink for the bg...and part of me is still nagging about Nyozeka's creepily grey face.

The little thing turned all the favorite heroines into Witches!

Though I found this genius and thinking what they'd look like.

That was my initial reaction too. However, I've begun to appreciate the fact that he's quite an unusual "villain" when compared to all the other mascots... Also this thing is made of win: [link]

Yeah but luckily most of them aren't too frilly or just plain ugly (like that awful bunny suit from the illusion episode, good grief).
