How about Cyphal, after the Mossy Cyphal that grows in Scotland. It is a hardy plant that lives in rocky areas, has small little flowers.

There's a plant called Shetland Mouse-ear, and when you mentioned that he's got grey edging to his ears I was like "omg, this is perfect". Also, it's a really cute (and vaguely ironic) name.
He's very sweet looking.
