That vibrant smile, that Oda would soon come to realize was a natural part of Rizts' personality,
stayed splayed across his features like a messy painting. It was clear he wasn't understanding anything
that the poor ranch hand was trying to dish out--- a clarity made even more brilliant with the red heads reply after those stumbled words,
"Not... like that..?" brows drawing forward until gasping in realization, "Oh! Oh no no no!" he waved his hands as if to add emphasis to his words,
"It's ok! Totally! I firmly stand by anyone being able to love anyone around here! Is that why it's a secret!? Did someone say something rude to you and your
partner!?" Riz wouldn't let this stand. He was fully prepared to stand up for this man and his lover!

Oda is just at a loss for words at that point--he felt he was clear even with the stuttering and yet this guy found some way to twist his words to his own personal understanding of the situation. Maybe he should be a bot more firm...
"Uhm--no..." He wouldn't go as far to say maybe the guy is slow but...there's something wrong here "I-I'm single. As in...I'm not with anyone. Just me. Not taken, engaged, and--y-yeah. You get the idea...?" He had calmed a bit by that point but his face was still rather red--especially when he had to repeat in many variations that he was S I N G L E. Makes him remember the many times his parents asked him if he found someone he fancied here sighs....

Oda might be right in a strange way. Was it better to let the man think
the petshop worker was slow....or supply the truth that Rizts didn't
have that much communication as a kid and there for lacked any real social skill

Whatever the case, the meaning was finally captured and solidified in his brain.
After a pause, some thinking, and then the inevitable fact that he had just completely
misconstrued this whole situation, Rizts Now completely got it. Oh no! what had he done!
Matching the tresses atop his head, his cheeks flared faster than any fire could burn. It was his turn to stutter and he played his part well,
"I... oh.. no. what I.... ah.....///// I'm so sorry!" how could he have put this poor man in an awkward place like that!? Over and over he fisted
his hands through his bangs and tried, perhaps too many times, to construct a proper sentence to fix this moment in time. "I just.. saw blue.. and then
and you know.. spring.. love is in the air." He wasn't making any sense. Best to just ... hide your face for a while.

Oda thought things would be fine as soon as things were cleared up but...though relieved, he felt even MORE embarrassed seeing him embarrassed. It was a second-hand type of thing going on and also he felt bad he had to be the one to break it to him.
Now we got two men just standing there, faces red and stumbling on words with each other. Oda just hopes no one from afar misunderstands this scene either. That's a chain of events he's not up for!
"Oh yeah, I-I get what you mean...really" Oda moves his hands around a little as if trying to physically form a proper sentence as well "Don't take it to heart. Uhm...I-I suppose it may have come off that way...maybe?" This is the first time it's happened to him though and he's not sure if this would happen again.
"B-But yes...there are lots of couples at this time of year I think--but I-I'm not...not one of them aha..." This was such an awkward conversation to have but he felt Oda should be clear. Still, he's not spared from a mental slap on the back of his head as a mildly embarrassing reminder that he's not taken yet. Honestly being single is fine but having someone is...pretty good too. Maybe.
