If you change your mind and decide to paint every page of Carciphona, even if it will take years and years, it would be worth waiting Γ§_Γ§. It's so beautiful! Β

you can ask but if it's story related, I may not be able to answered them!

None of my questions are story related I wouldn't want to spoil the story for myself (not that you'd tell me anyway ). Most of the questions are more or less time management and any good advice you're willing to give; almost all the questions though are based on the assumptions you have one or more jobs (though if this assumption is wrong I honestly want to know how you do it, especially if I am to believe Canada has almost no tolerance for unsuccessful/jobless/indigent peoples), things pertaining to the comic/manga is that you are solely self-published and a self-contained entity, i.e., you handle everything yourself or employ someone to work for you. There maybe a few more assumption I have made but for the sake of time...
If I am wrong please correct me, though I'd happily be a fool but just a a scrap of insight, knowledge is far more vaulable than my diginty.

How many hours does a normal work week entail, excluding the time you devote to your comic/manga?

How much time do you typically have to devote to you comic/manga?

How many steps or pages are you able to complete with that time? steps being thumbnails, roughs, pencils, ink flats, tones, color, lettering...say an avg is 4.3 (this is a rough guesstimation) panels/pg

How do you typically go about your process? i.e. thumbnail, rough, pencil, ink, etc. page by page, complete one step for all the pages then move on to the next, or in batches like completely complete four or so page to finishΒ  at a time, etc.

Do you write out a script, plot line, ideas, or do you just wing it?

If you do a script, plot line, etc. do you write it out, voice record or use some other method?

Do you feel that being female affects the way you approach storytelling? If so would mind explaining?

What elements do you feel are the most important in storytelling?

Are you a polyglot, able to speak multiple (more than three) languages, and do you think it affects your writing?

Do you have anyone proof you comic/manga, if not how do you handle this?

Do you solely work digitally, if so do you think this helps you with your ability to manage your time better?

Do you think age has anything to do with the way you write or what you write?

Do you have any advice for staying motivated and creative?

Do you have any advice or tips for combating novice and amateur mistakes in planning, writing, drawing comics/manga?

I apologize there are so many questions and if any of these are invasive. I also want to say that this isn't for a paper, article, or any other nonsense other than my own need to ask questions and hopefully learn something that I may apply to myself for myself.
Also are your sound effect lettering hand drawn or a font?

hi (: here are some answers

- I actually don't have/need a side job to keep this up, I do art and draw my comic full time and it is my main income. a lot of the rest of your questions are based on the incorrect assumption so I'll skip some of these questions!
- these days I take a few months to write the whole story (I paint in between still, of course), then another few to do the storyboard of the entire next volume. then the rest of the year is the weekly grind of a few pages, from sketch based on the thumbnails i've done -> clean lines -> scanned in to photoshop to tone
- I write the script in words only; thumbnails and storyboard is only done for the immediate next volume, never in planning
- I don't think about gender much so I can't say whether or not it affects what I like, and how I write
- I believe the most important thing is whether or not the story can make the reader feel invested, feel like they have stakes and hopes for the characters to turn out the way they want
- I speak two chinese dialects and english because I'm an immigrant, but if anything it just made my language skills worse because I'm a master of neither
- I don't have proofreaders or editors because I don't like others to influence my story, something that I do for myself out of passion more so than for success/in an attempt to create a good piece of literary work
- I work both digitally and traditionally; I do whatever that I feel most natural with and both have their merits in saving time
- age definitely affects how and what I write immensely
- to stay motivated and creative, you have to stay open minded, and always look outside and do things that you may consider irrelevant and therefore time wasting. If you don't, you will become narrow minded and lose creativity
- don't worry about making mistakes; make them, identify them, and teach yourself how to overcome them. the more you try to do, the more mistakes you end up making and then identifying, the more you'll understand
- sound effects are hand drawn

good luck!
