It is true I am sorely old
and that my shoes are now poorly soled
and that I think often of Bangkok and Calgary,
but between you and me
this was the tree
that was mistook for growing apples
So goodbye tree
and goodbye honey bee
I've seen how your branches have grown
goodbye dusty stone
plus every breeze blown
I will miss their loving rattles

I'm going to be honest with you, the poem made me tear up a bit--did you write this? It's fantastic. I am such a fan of your little characters. I love the one reading Moby Dick.... and I love "S.S. Tub" 
It reminds me of my old house. It was a tiny little house that was propped up on top of a garage (I only lived in the second floor), but there was a tree that grew right next to it, and since the house was so small it just looked like it was sitting in the tree... so I called it my "tree house".

I was between homes when this was written, for a little while now I don't really have a good understanding of where my actual home is. Though I like to think I'll be well travelled when I do find it and I'll have seen all I set out to see and meet all who I needed to meet.
I was thinking about when I was younger and the time when I realised climbing high into trees was a most excellent activity, and that I should like to live in a big fig tree some day.
