Description every now and then i like to do something different. something simple without paying too much attention to details, blending, grid or that kind of stuff, just for the fun of it, or to convey a certain feeling.
this is what i did last night. it's done with white pastel on black paper. i also used some photo references which i combined together to get the composition i had in my mind. i like how it came out (probably just because i love seagulls ) hope you like it too.

Your artwork is just amazing. How long did it take you to get to this level of art?

First of all, this is just supersuper cool. I've seen your gallery and quite a few artworks, including this one, looked like photographs to me at first.
It's inspiring because everything looks so..strategically beautiful, like the strokes of the pastel and such.

I'm wondering what you mean by 'grid'? Because when I want to draw a portrait I usually mark up the reference to see how things are placed in relation to each other. So yeah, I guess I'm curious about how you do it if I'm right about the way you mean grid.

Thank you
As for your question, I found this article [link] which explains what a grid is and how it works.

Ohh, thank you so much for the article/tutorial/and such. It was helpful.
I usually just made lines as I saw fit, but I've never actually tried using a uniform grid for some reason...
Haha, thanks again!

love the movement of the right wing. Wish the bird's gaze was slightly slanted in the same direction as the body though.

I like seagulls, too. At first from far I thought it was a dove, but I saw the long beak. I can't stop faving things in your gallery! You're really inspiring. Do you have an FAQ somewhere? b/c I'd like to know how you came to be where you are now and how you start out your art pieces. =] Keep up the gorgeous work!

So powerful.... your work has an incredible realism to it.
I love the contrast and sheer force of emotion that this evokes. Freedom in isolation, and a moment totally captured.

You have an incredible skill.

Seagull? I saw a dove, but maybe that's because of my recent losses and funerals. I do love seagulls too, but it still feels like a dove and I don't see lost, I see "found". This is beautiful. I think I may just need a break away from everything for a while.
