I don't much about Metal Face. I lots about Ridley however. He can fly very well, has sharp claws, tail and teeth, and breathes plasma. I don't know if there's any dead things nearby, but if Ridley is hurt, he can eat corpses to regenerate his damaged body. Not many people know that. He never does it in any game, but it's touched upon in the Metroid Manga.Β

You're welcome. That's my favorite thing about him. And you can actually see how smart he is in the manga. He has a really smart military mind, able to talk and give commands to all the space pirate troops, using it to plan out all kinds of attacks on the Galactic Federation. He isn't the commander of the Space Pirates for no reason. Yet all he does in the games is roar and appear menacing. I wish his true self was shown in games.Β

Well, to be fair, Ridley is a small target (compared to Metal Face, at least) and is far more maneuverable in the air than a metallic golem like the Face (I know he flies too, but Ridley has an easier time maneuvering in the air). Plus, Ridley can pelt Metal Face with hit plasma breathe attacks, and if I recall correctly, Mechon don't have any special resistances against non physical attacks (like Ether in Xenoblade), meaning that Metal Face's fancy shiny armor cover won't protect him from Ridley's overheated plasma attacks. Not to mention, Face's attacks are somewhat sluggish compared to Ridley, although they do cover a large range area.
That being said, this would actually be an even battle.

Metal face without a doubt. Unlike a lot of characters with claws, Metal Face has proven on more than one occasion that his claws can pierce flesh. He can fly at high speeds and even has an attack style to fit his flying ability. While hard to hit, that laser of his really hurts if it hits, which is more likely to hit given his high speed to use to his advantage. Plus, I highly doubt Ridley can get through Metal's armor. I think one line of his can fit Ridley's predicament quite well: "Do you really think you can hurt me with that thing?" (in this case, thing refers to Ridley's claws and tail.

Then again, Ridley is also quite hardy, since he can take Plasma Beams to the face like a champ. Plasma Beams. As in, the one beam that pierces through enemies, being able to destroy all enemies in a straight line in a single fire.
Also, Ridley doesn't even need to get close to Metal Face to attack him. Remember he can spit plasmatic fire balls. And Mechon are only resistant to direct physical attacks, not indirect special attacks (like Ether).

Metal Has the fireballs covered since he can fly out of the way, which is easy given his high speed.

Ridley is also very fast and he is a master of stealth and could ambush Metal face
