He doesn't talk much except when spoken to, and while he won't flee from a conversation he will instead just listen and not commentate much save for when you're his friend. This makes him a good listener, but also makes it harder to get to know and befriend him. He instead observes body language and tone of voice while listening.

A weird combination, yes. He came to the Frontier not just to settle and help out but to also explore. He tries to be brave as a result, knowing one needs courage to explore the new world, yet is extremely jumpy and will run from anything that he might consider too dangerous, or just gets spooked by in general. This makes exploring difficult, but he still tries due to his desire to explore.

Vincent tries his best to help out and will try to do what's asked of him, whether it's make something for someone or help aid on an important mission if he's asked to do either. Even when he isn't the best suited to do something, he'll do what he can should he be involved. However, in both attempts to help and in his normal work, he's rather sensitive to negative critique or comments on how he contributes. Not as much when it's something he knew he wasn't good at from the start, but it definitely effects him a lot when it's about something he's passionate about.
Backstory:
Vincent had a relatively normal childhood, raised by his parents in a small town surrounded by nature. His parents were wood carvers, his father working on buildings while his mother made sculptures. He learned a bit from both, but was drawn more towards the artwork his mother created. Not long into his life he discovered a love of music when his parents gave him a lute for one of his birthdays, and he took up practicing on his own out in the forest. It was there he met his first pokemon who had been drawn by the sound of music.
The amalgam of Sandshrew, Mareep, and Cottonee visited him there every time he chose to visit that clearing, until one day it chose to just follow him home. His parents allowed him to keep the small fluffy pokemon, and he named her Willow. With the pokemon by his side, he began venturing further into the woods before eventually deciding to leave home. Wandering the old world, he eventually raised the small pokemon to her final evolutions, and learned to understand her. A few close encounters on their travels led him to becoming more and more cautious and fearful of anything remotely threatening, and eventually he chose to stay in another small town practicing his sculpting until the day he heard the call for trainers to go to the new world, and failed to resist.
